I don’t agree with that mate. That was too old blokes having a move around making each other look good.

Paul is young, sharp and has been fit for a sustained period of time.

Tyson clearly doesn’t have any power left. I’d imagine the fast twitch muscle fibres have long departed. Probably the Roy Jones fight was a fake but if it wasn’t the power was doing nothing to bother chinny Jones.

Yes I’d be surprised if there is a knockout,
bigger gloves and shorter rounds make that harder. All the punch bag footage of Tyson means nothing (one of the clips I saw looked speeded up to me). Bags and mitts don’t punch back and whatever anyone thinks of Jake Paul he is strong, in his physical prime (27) and can afford the best training and prep. He isn’t a novice YouTuber anymore, he’s been boxing/training for at least 6 years. If Jake is 230lbs as reported he may even have the weight advantage.

am i a badperson if i think I'd quite like to see Jake Paul badly injured?

maybe not coma-bad, just, say, massive concussion, broken ribs and 3 nights in hospital in a lot of pain, bad.

I'm amazed at how many delusional people there are out there - who not only think that Tyson would smash Jake (or will, if they actually believe it's a real fight) in a real fight at this stage of his life - but in many cases, think he would actually be a force in the current heavyweight division.

He looks what he is, an old man, all those very short clips of him, which have been edited together to make it look faster, provde he hasn't got any stamina, otherwise they'd show longer form footage.

Does anybody believe that?

I think people who think he will destroy Jake Paul tend to do so because they think Jake Paul is just the equivalent of some guy off the street. He isn't, of course. He's a guy who been training properly for boxing for some years now, and is pro boxer level. Not very good pro boxer level, of course, but not Andy Flintoff either.

On the plus side for Tyson, and if you’re someone looking at this as a genuine fight, Jake Paul isn’t a heavyweight, and couldn’t even beat Tommy Fury.

It’s a bizarre event though. I can’t quite work out who actually wants to see it.

Also if Tyson does wobble from a shot early on as many expect, is Paul seriously going to go after him with everything to pick up a highlight reel KO? Doesn’t he have enough “haters” already? On the flip side, Paul and Tyson may well have sat in a room together and worked on some sort of script, but this would be equally as farcical once those slo mo replays start answering questions.

Just weird all round. Who actually wants to see this nonsense.

And they all want to watch their guy fight a 58 year old man who hasn’t had a fight in 20 years?

Maybe they did a poll of the followers and this Mike Tyson guy was their first choice…

Imagine a world where mike won and we saw him vs tommy fury next? Fury would have earned more in 3 fights than multiple elite fighters put together in their entire careers.

Yep. They'd watch him wrap a parcel, but they'll be up for this. They know who Tyson is, for a start. If Paul fought Usyk they would still watch it, but it wouldnt be as exciting to them to watch Paul fight that Ukrainian guy nobody ever heard of as it would to see him fighting the great Mike Tyson. Everyone knows Mike Tyson! He's a boxer.

Bear in mind that you are talking about people who stood in lines for hours, drove miles and paid ten times the retail value to get hold of bottles of coloured sugar water when Jake Paul told them to. Although actually that was his brother, but same thing.

If you go by most reactions on social media, then yes.
It's weird because nobody would expect Roger Clemens to throw a 90mph fastball anymore or Carl Lewis to run a sub 10 second 100 meter today, yet Tyson hits as hard as ever because apparently he's "still Tyson".
Even guys like Rogan and Teddy Atlas seems to think Tyson has a chance and they really should know better.

Exactly. Even top footballers get to a point in their 30s where they can’t play at the top level anymore .

Mid 30s has always been widely accepted but never written in stone.

Of all the top modern footballers who haven't suffered debilitating injuries and have enough skill to compensate for a bit of lost pace, my view is that the majority stop training sufficiently hard because they've been rich for too long.

Footballers wear the silkiest pyjamas in UK sports, typically retiring before their bodies demand it and solidifying the axiom that most fans buy into: that you're done by 35. Ronaldo might've given some of those believers pause for thought recently.

Jo Pavey and Mo Farah have shown how close you can stay to your athletic peak at 40 for example; like at 90%+. Golovkin didn't fade until his late 30s and could still beat most in the top 20. The problem with this fight is that Tyson's over 50, and there's no amount of PEDs to get around that. He's way more vulnerable to serious harm on the wrong side of middle age, even if he were superfit.

It shouldn't be licensed, but we support boxing despite knowing how corrupt it is, so I think we'd all be venturing into hypocrisy if we complained too much. Just don't watch and hope it's staged, eh.

unless it's pre-agreed as a dance, Tyson will get battered, has wholly shot in 2005 and peaked 34 years ago.

Yes of course age affects people differently, my point was Tyson will be 58 and it’s unusual for sportsmen to be at the top of their game in their late 30s, let alone their 40s and 50s so crazy anyone thinks he can fight like he did 30 years ago.
