Yeah, he is a multi millionaire, spanked the bloke that was supposed to take his head off, is ranked in the top 10 pound for pound is only maybe 3 fights away from been inducted into the HOF and has women flocking around himALI wrote:What a total waste of a career!

No, it was a fair expression of annoyance. I don't share that degree of cynicism, but this fight clearly stinks and is a retrogade step.Hagler2k6 wrote:Yeah, he is a multi millionaire, spanked the bloke that was supposed to take his head off, is ranked in the top 10 pound for pound is only maybe 3 fights away from been inducted into the HOF and has women flocking around himALI wrote:What a total waste of a career!![]()

While I think Bika will give a good account of himself...66-1 is about right.
Not the sort of fight Joe should be messing around with this late in the day.
FW should have pulled out all stops for a blockbuster follow up, live on HBO - at least some sort of "name" fans would recognise - instead he's dredged up a man guaranteed to beg the question: Who he??

you lot ought to get some dvds of bika. he's way above evans ashira and karbary salem. in fact i would bet that he could beat them with more conviction that Calzaghe did.
his showing vs Beyer was a wake up call. He wasn't just some outclassed import. He was a genuine shock to Beyer, who was going to get whipped.

I'm gonna put a few quid on Bika and some more serious wedge on Calzaghe PTS.
no way is 1/66 right, there's some serious hysterionics there. Promising. I'm liking the chances of a good price for UD.
Bika looks to have the makings of a tough bastard who is capable of breaking Joe's breadstick hands with his head.

But those points are moot. Would you put 500 down on Bika to win by any stretch?viciousmaussa wrote:you lot ought to get some dvds of bika. he's way above evans ashira and karbary salem. in fact i would bet that he could beat them with more conviction that Calzaghe did.

I would rather put 500 on bika than on calzaghe. More upside and actually the smart money longterm bet with that value, given enough fights with similar value on the dog.Mattyp151 wrote:But those points are moot. the points are not moot. i only said that he would give the guy a real fight - & he'll have longer to prove it than vs Beyer, who was looking for a way out. bika is a live underdog and very dangerous. he is an awful choice of opponent for Calzaghe - no reward at all, but there IS risk. Bika is awkward, savvy vs souhpaws, hits hard, doesn't get overawed, and more than one of his fights have had nasty head clashes.Mattyp151 wrote:But those points are moot. Hmm strange odds indeed. At first I thought you meant Bika was at 66/1 then I was thinking of sticking some $ on Bika. But Calzaghe at 1/66 ?
I took a few different fights and added the dog's odds from the favourites, in american odds using Sportsbook.com
Barrera -165
Juarez +135
-165 + 135 = -35
Corrales -215
Casamayor +175
Difference = -140
Mayweather -600
Baldomir +400
Diff = -200
Kessler -650
Beyer +450
Diff = -200
Calzaghe -6600
Bika +1100
Diff = -5500
Prob won't come across such a big diff in awhile. What a shite bookie!
I reckon sportsbook will have..
Calzaghe at about 1/26 ( -2600 )
Bika at 16/1 ( +1600 )

Nooooo you misunderstood the original post, and so have a few others. That bookie has Calzaghe at 1/66 NOT Bika.MightyWarrior wrote:Well of course they're trying to draw in a few punters with those eye catching odds, but that's because those canny bastards know damn well that Bika has NO CHANCE of winning.

Yeah Bika is actually decent...but just not the kind of test/big fight we would expect joe to be in at this stage of his career.

It always baffles me if a fighter can be 1/66 on and they put the other guy up at 11/1 surely he should be 66/1, the book sure are a bunch of robbing bandstands covering their arse.lvlarc_uk wrote:Nooooo you misunderstood the original post, and so have a few others. At 1-66 it costs you 98 to make 100. At 11-1 it costs you 9 to make a 100. The draw is at 33-1, that costs you 3 to make a 100. That means backing both fighters and the draw costs you in total 98+9+3=110. That means the bookies are trying to pay out 100 for every 110 backed. That is why the reverse odds e.g. 66-1 are not offered for Bika.achybreaky wrote:It always baffles me if a fighter can be 1/66 on and they put the other guy up at 11/1 surely he should be 66/1, the book sure are a bunch of robbing bandstands covering their arse.lvlarc_uk wrote:Nooooo you misunderstood the original post, and so have a few others. A 10% margin is pretty slim when you think about it. Can you lay the correct odds within 10% all the time? The problem the bookies have is if they open on the seriously wrong line e.g. Sam Peter at 4-1. They get hammered in minutes.
11-1 for Bika is a decent bet. If the fight had gone two more rounds then Bika would be the WBC champ and you would only be getting odds of 5-1 instead of 11-1.
