Re: Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk | PPV - 18 May 2024
I agree with the Holyfield thing, but not Ngannou. Look what AJ did to him. No way Francis would have done that to Usyk, prepared or not.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 17:10I think the Zero fight novice is a little misleading, I mean NGannou knows how to punch.jwfg wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 17:07100% agree. Fury has shown a lot of guts and grit. He'll give it his all, but he's a high mileage vehicle. He's just been decked by a zero fight novice. Usyk's going to dominate this fight.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 16:58 One thing is, there's no dog in Fury, he certainly won't capitulate meekly.
I think more the worry, was the fact that Fury's timing looked really bad, he didn't seem to be able to find the gaps for his own shots, and was off the pace the entire fight.
I remember a quote by holyfield, I think it was one of the fights he had after Valuev, near the tail end of his career and he said something along the lines of "I can still see the gaps, but I just can't pull the trigger quick enough, and by the time I do, it's gone."
That's what happens to fighters as they age, especially ones who haven't lived the life.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk | PPV - 18 May 2024
Like everyone else , i've been giving this fight a lot of thought who wins , how they win ect ect . I keep thinking to start with Fury ducked and dived his whole carreer , his best wins being an old champ when he was on the boar meat who he then refused a rematch , followed by Wilder who turns out is a bit rubbish anyway . So based on this Usyk quite easy .
Then i think Usyk , his best wins have to be AJ but Aj is slow and stiff , on the other hand Chisora took it to him with some degree of success , DD did hurt him with a body shot , and size does matter , which is in Furys favor . Because after all Fury handled Chisora with ease , and if we were calling Fury -- DD it would be a no brainer 100% would probably pick Fury in an easy win
So after much careful consideration i've come to the conclusion ,, were 4 days away and i still hav'nt got a clue

I am leaning towards this. And great quote from after the Valuev fight from Holyfield. I remember watching it and despite the decline still had him winning that one. I think that was his last meaningful performance.

I am saying it's possible Fury's reflexes are gone, and that's why he looked so poor, if so, he is doomed against Usyk.jwfg wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 17:20I agree with the Holyfield thing, but not Ngannou. It could play out in so many different ways and I think those claiming it will be some kind of one sided beatdown are in for a shock.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 17:03 I've no idea how this will play out, I keep changing my mind!

I don’t know if it’s an optical illusion, but Fury looks suddenly much older about the face to me - when he turned up with the hat yesterday. A bit worn out..
Let’s see how he looks at the weigh in, maybe he just hasn’t slept much
Or it could be drastic weight loss
But this week I’ve started to realise the obvious, he’s facing a P4P talent at the peak of his powers who’s probably gonna beat him handily.
And yet the bookies have it evens..

It’s 12/1 on Skybet, which is short as you ever see on a draw in a fight.Redback Rasta wrote: ↑15 May 2024, 02:09Was looking at that and between searches, the odds for the draw had reduced. Suggests to me people are having a dabble on that outcome.

I’ve just backed Usyk at Evens (actually got 11/10 with a Paddy Power bet boost).MightyWarrior wrote: ↑15 May 2024, 02:19 I don’t know if it’s an optical illusion, but Fury looks suddenly much older about the face to me - when he turned up with the hat yesterday. A bit worn out..

Going on the ‘form guide’ this is outrageous value, although I fully appreciate Fury can have something of the miracle man about him.

Yeh saw the same on 365….surprised.
But I guess they’re thinking the same as everyone else, in that we can’t really trust the judges can we?
And the old face I’m talking about, I think is the weight loss..

Usyk will win in the eyes of everyone except the corrupt judged

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk | PPV - 18 May 2024
Saw a clip of Tyson posing with his top off, have to say, don't think he looks in good nick at all. He still had really weirdly shaped love handles, and he had loads of slack skin, which suggests he lost lots of weight very very quickly. which isn't a good thing.
He doesn't look particularly strong in the arms and shoulders - I undestand it's not bodybuilding, but he doesn't look like he's in top condition, I wonder if he's gone for weight loss, to come in light and with improved stamina, if so, suggests he is looking to fight at a pace, to try and match Usyk.
Intriguing fight, I am going to have to go with Usyk, looking at the form guide. The only outlier is their respective performances against Chisora, but styles make fights, and also Usyk was still feeling his way into the heavyweight division, and I think he was assessing how he could handle a big full blown heavyweight..
Bring it on!

This way inclined myself now tbh. The videos of Turki and Fury together. Turki gushing with praise for Fury how hes the jewel in the crown of boxing or some other shit and the potential Fury v Joshua fight means Fury will win this on the scorecards. Usyk needs to stop him.tigermoth87 wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 16:21
I expect a robbery. Fury is at the Canelo stage of entering each fight with a 3 round head start

Agree. Good points. I just have this gut feeling that Usyk will be robbed on pointsjamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑15 May 2024, 04:46 Saw a clip of Tyson posing with his top off, have to say, don't think he looks in good nick at all. My main scenario is a fencing match where rounds are won by a couple of quality jabs. Very little in it. Everyone will argue for their man and nothing will be definitive about the result.
I give that about a 70% chance.
The 30% scenario is where Fury is worn out trying to keep up with Usyk and is stopped late.
Both are top operators.
