Your out of touch.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑30 May 2024, 12:41You’re 100% lying. Cambridge university is an ABA licensed club and they would have bouts with non regulation 16oz gloves.Loynesy wrote: ↑30 May 2024, 06:44 That's not true either - schoolboy boxing and intra-Cambridge fights weren't just sparring, there was a bell and a referee. I've stated that the first time I ever tried with the lighter gloves I was on floor within seconds so I'm hardly boasting.
Look - you've been hostile to me on another thread so you clearly don't like me. I've been on this forum for over 20 years and never had a problem with anyone before. Let's just block each other as life is far too short for acrimony.
I don't lie - perhaps as someone who has been a top level solicitor for over 25 years (if you don't believe that I can send you a copy of my Practicing Certificate) my phrasing can seem nuanced but I'm never false.

Yes Cambridge University have a club registered with England Boxing but inter university boxing has frequently taken place outside of the NGB's control and regulations.
There's also confusion regarding glove sizes for formal competition. Up to 67k, 10oz gloves are worn, over 67k, 12oz.
Whilst the size worn has some relevance it's just another consideration along with age, weight, experience and ability.
