I think it was too much of a jump in weight for him. IMHO
He was just fighting one of the best at the weight class who was just unfortunate to get under Beterbiev truck too early.
Gvozdyk is an Olympic medalist and has a KO win against Stevenson on his resume.
Damned fine win for Benavidez, as well as a damned good performance by Gvozdyk, but let’s be honest, Gvozdyk after the long layoff and three can 2023 is not Beterbiev or Bivol. Benavidez best path is to go back and fight Canelo and wait out the Russians. He can’t beat them at this moment. They are both too big, strong, gifted, and skilled at this point. Maybe in two years.
I feel like he's about the same size as Bivol and matches better with him. Beterbiev is a no-go, though. He doesn't have anything to keep him off.
I agree, though, Benavidez's one path is at 168. He's not a LHW unless he does some radical conditioning, and even then, he doesn't have the natural power to deter guys.
He did not look impressive at all. Punches looked flat. Gvozdyk was walking through everything and shrugged off punches.

I agree with everything but Bivol. Bivol will dice him like a sous chef training newbies.

Yeah, not saying he beats Bivol, but I think he has a better chance against him than Beterbiev, which is like 0% against Beterbiev.

By the middle rounds it looked over as a competitive bout.
Gvozdyk has a good chin and was in great shape, his skills are fairly sound for his age but it was a bit predictable and there was very little firepower in his shots.
Benavidez looked quite good, it must have been frustrating not being able to put Gvozdyk away, but he should remember Gvozdyk's reputation as a sound boxer with a good chin so it was always going to be a job getting him out of there.
Fight itself overall, didn't live up to expectations at least not mine, but it was ok.
Benavidez off of that looks like he can hang with the Light Heavyweights and is sure to cause a ruckus at 175 now.

If Beterbiev is still the same, he will do the same with Bivol what he did to Gvozdyk.

None of us are the same as we were five years ago. However, given what Beterbiev did to Callum Smith, I must favor him v Bivol, if he is healthy. But, not by much.
