With a louder audience, DDD might not hear Don Charles shouting "Keep your hands up Daniel". I'm no expert, but I would have thought keeping your hands up is a basic thing.
Defensively, DDD was cute at times, other than the obvious keeping your hands up, he did step in and out of range adeptly, he did move his head on the way in, and he did keep it close to take the distance away.
However he did also stand there, in range, head up, like a sitting duck for periods, and was repeatedly tagged.
As we saw against the MMA guy, you just can't give AJ that opportunity

Agreed. He was eating right hands faster than a fat kid eating sweets. Defensively generous, I believe it's called.

Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois Press Conference later on today and the IBF title will be on the line.
Someone on X leaked the email and posted a screenshot. It looks like Joshua is getting the favourable treatment I see.

By rights Dubois should be upgraded to full champ, leaving AJ as the challenger, so Dubois should be getting 70% of the purse

mandated percentages dont apply if teams make a deal and avoid purse bid. dubois would never get the fight if aj only made 30 percent

Well as I said, Dubois should be upgraded, so I hope he is getting rewarded appropriately or I'd leave AJ in the cold.
If it's a Saudi show I guess the money will be there.

pretty sure this wont go to purse bid so 70 percent will be irrelevant

if dubois really demanded and stuck to 70 percent it would never happen, aj as a muc bigger draw isnt going to fight dan dubois for 30 percent. dubois would miss out on by far a career high

margaret thatcher wrote: 25 Jun 2024, 20:13 it would be beyond stupid to hardline a 70 percent requirement. he'll make huge money vs aj, even getting the smaller end. the fight wont happen if he needs 70, obviously joshua as a far bigger draw isnt going to take 30
Don't forget how much AJ needs the belt.

I agree it's not worth holding out for 70%

But def worth holding out for a 50-50 split as champ, and you have FW and Turki behind you

aj has a lot more behind him and has been making huge money even without belts. he doesnt really need it. he's made far more money than dubois and as the bigger name has better opportunities out there than dubois does. dubois needs aj more than vice versa. beating aj could launch him to a new level. joshua beating dubois doesnt do the same for aj

it wont go to bid anyway like i said. fight may be done already. and wouldnt be surprised if other belts pop up soon....as happens when someone becomes undisputed

the way the IBF treats its champions is a disgrace .
Barely has the swelling gone down and they are trying to interfere .
an undisputed champion should get more respect

They just want their 3% like all the others and 3% of an AJ fight will be huge money.

Dubois has no way of leaving AJ in the cold. He’s the B-Side.

The b side with the belt(unless it's for the vacant)

AJ has always been the A side, but he paid through the nose to get it in the first place.

BBC are insinuating the Dubios will actually be declared the IBF world champion and defending this title against Joshua as opposed to a vacant title fight.

I know same different really, but Dubios can now tell his grandchildren he is a two time world champion (both of sorts!).

As Brian Magee can also do.

That’s right: he’s the interim champion. So he gets elevated

Yeah it seems a bit odd that a guy who lost pretty handily (the "non controversy aside" ) for the IBF title a year ago, can get awarded it instead of just fighting Joshua for the vacant belt.

Its not quite as "bad" as Brian Magee who got elevated to full status just a few weeks before fighting the guy who was the previous belt holder who never lost the title in the ring.

Agreed.

But on a positive note, the more the sanctioning bodies disgrace themselves with this kind of brain dead move the more it hastens their demise. The public already regard these clowns with derision, we just need the broadcasters and most importantly the boxers to come to their senses
