Bivol looked good.
He could be a lot tougher than I originally thought he was.
Always had him pegged as a 75/25 boxer puncher, he seems like he's got a lot more to offer in the grit and determination category.

That stoppage on the weekend was long overdue.. but Zinad came to fight

He did but got outgunned, he kept pawing with that jab too much and ran out of ideas.
He was looking for the home run hit and neglected the boxing side of things.
Bivol showed core boxing ability among other things, he's going to be hard to beat.

He certainly is.

That fight was just what he needed whilst Beterbiev gathers a little rust.

The speed and accuracy with which Bivol reacted after getting clipped in the first round was highly impressive.

It seems to suggest that he's normally fighting and winning well within his limits but if needed he can up his pace at any time.

The longer it takes for Beterbiev to get ready the better this is going to get for Bivol.

One of them has more power but one of them is also a lot easier to hit.

Even as a Beterbiev fan, I think it's looking like a 50/50 fight.

Have to consider the wear and tear that Bivol has been through as well though.
Fought Canelo, that would have been a training camp let alone a fight.
Let's not forget what it takes out of them.

People are writing off Beterbiev way too quick, Bivol has never been in there with someone who hits that hard.

ESPN+ to carry Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol main event stateside

Shakur Stevenson vs Joe Cordina headlines the PPV portion

American viewers uninterested in paying for Artur Beterbiev’s and Dmitry Bivol’s supporting cast are in luck, as Top Rank announced today that ESPN+ will carry a one-fight broadcast of the main event.

The rest of the lineup, led by Shakur Stevenson vs Joe Cordina, reportedly runs for $15.

Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs), who withdrew from the original June date due to a torn meniscus, is gearing up for his first multi-fight calendar year since 2021. He last saw action in January, clubbing Callum Smith into submission in front of the Quebecois faithful.

Bivol (23-0, 12 KOs) is in a similar boat, going one-and-done in 2023 with a decision over Lyndon Arthur before ending a nine-fight stoppage drought by flattening late replacement Malik Zinad.

It’s a goofy arrangement to be sure, but between the weak undercard and Lays-esque ratio of empty air to action these events tend to produce, I can’t really complain.

Artur is just old and crippled. Catching the "175lbs version of Lara" in Bivol is gonna be a difficult task to do. Bivol has a good snap in his punches too.

bert is old and injury riddled, but like usyk he manages them well and gets the most from his performances

It's hard to see the best technician in boxing lose this or any other fight and it's easy to think Beterbiev's age and injuries are going to finally get the better of him but - on the other hand - Artur Beterbiev has been making a mockery of all his doubters for years.

I would imagine that in his heart of hearts Dmitry Bivol is just a little bit scared right now.

People underestimate Beterbiev boxing skills and Bivol punching power. Beterbiev UD or Bivol KO are real possibilities too

true, vs cal smith it was bert's jab that was his best weapon. so accurate and sharp

bivol often scores kds and hits harder than his ko rate would suggest but doesnt really have the mentality of a finisher.

I think that this is going to be the best fight in many years. It’s going to be historic. They won’t publicize it as much as they could but any boxing fan who knows a thing or two will love this. This is what boxing should be about. Bivol should get a ton of credit for the size of his balls
