Around the world in 80 fights
Around the world in 80 fights
Steve Bunce’s new book out today. Looks a good read, anyone getting it prepared to give a review here?
Re: Around the world in 80 fights
only interested if there's a full account of the Uganda trip

Didn't realise this had come out, I'll be buying for sure, really enjoyed his last book.
Re: Around the world in 80 fights
Andy Clarke's Knockout looks decent. Also didn't realise Maurice Hope had a book out.

If its as good as The Fixer, I'm in.
Re: Around the world in 80 fights
Supremo did come back and post a few times, but stopped in 2022 after the Taylor v Catterall I decision:
Supremo wrote: ↑27 Feb 2022, 03:00 I used to be obsessed by boxing. Boxed myself for years, used to watch multiple fights a day, read every magazine around, on every forum talking boxing, stil coach.
However, in the last 3 or 4 years I've lost all my love for watching it, i would now struggle/be completely unable to tell you the top man in most divisions.
I watched that fight last night though and it completely reinforced why I barely show any interest in the sport anymore.
An absolute robbery. Incompetence could maybe be identified if you were generous and if it was one judge, but when it's 2 then it's corruption pure and simple.
I don't want to invest any of my time in a sport like that.

ordered it, he's boxing history book is really good.
Re: Around the world in 80 fights
He’s a proper silly Billy but you don’t half warm to it. I’ll order it on payday myself. His 5 live podcast is always hilarious when you can tell his interviewee is just cracking up at his daftness

I can't help but like him, he boxed himself and his knowledge is excellent.

Re: Around the world in 80 fights
If I remember correctly, Big Dave is the grass who supplied Bunce with their real names before these guys disappearedmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 Sep 2024, 22:29 ya and if you hurt his feelings online he'll send 'big dave from sheffield' after your arse![]()

bunce used to post here from time to time. one time he popped up to take issue with what some posters were saying, and made a threat that a 'big dave from sheffield' would sort them out if they continuedSeanBrennan wrote: ↑16 Sep 2024, 18:07I am intrigued, who is Big Dave from Sheffield?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 Sep 2024, 22:29 ya and if you hurt his feelings online he'll send 'big dave from sheffield' after your arse![]()
hopefully bunce isnt such an utter baby online any more. for a supposedly affable man of the people you'd think he wouldnt be as up tight as he is. this is the same guy who got into a shouting match with a teenager at a school rugby game and then moaned about it on radio, mocked and belittled a chronically ill woman, threatned to sue the fans who spearheaded the campaign to bring him back on sentanta, absolutely went off and maligned a reporter who said jones-lebedev 2 was off and when it turned out to be true he just double downed and bitched some more.
a real boxin man, a real twat too

Re: Around the world in 80 fights
Thanks for explaining. How silly. He once made the papers once for falling out with a pupil at his son's rugby game once too, he has form for being less than stellar https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/ ... 44242.htmlmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑16 Sep 2024, 18:08bunce used to post here from time to time. one time he popped up to take issue with what some posters were saying, and made a threat that a 'big dave from sheffield' would sort them out if they continuedSeanBrennan wrote: ↑16 Sep 2024, 18:07I am intrigued, who is Big Dave from Sheffield?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 Sep 2024, 22:29 ya and if you hurt his feelings online he'll send 'big dave from sheffield' after your arse![]()
