The question is if it would be a rematch bc I don't think this version of Canelo would want to fight a beast like Artur, even if Artur is 40. I mean Artur doesn't have too many good money options at 175 beside the Bivol rematch or Bena/Morrell winner.

It’s unbelievable how many people, on a boxing forum, have Beterbiev as a winner.
FYI in boxing you don’t win by ‘appearing dominant’. You don’t win because you’re a physically stronger man. You win by winning exchanges and by winning rounds.
Let me decipher the picture of the said fight. Beterbiev is a guy with a very good power and a very good chin. He has a solid skill set on top of that but it’s the combination of power, physical strength and chin that makes the impression of ‘dominance’. Other than that, Bivol was better in every single aspect of the game. Footwork, hand speed, variety of punches/combos, defence (compare connection rates as per CompuBox), ring IQ - you name them.
Bivol 7:5, and I am being conservative.

bert a fair winner , very close fight with lots of swing rounds. had bivol ahead a couple going into the last 3, but had bert sweeping those to edge it

It was remarkable what happened all over the internet on the night of that fight, and the following day: People who wanted to convince you that Beterbiev really deserved the decision win would post video clips of Bivol blocking a series of punches. That was their support for their position. I was always like, "Wait, you're arguing in support of Beterbiev, here, right? So do you have clips of him, you know, landing his punches? Like cleanly, clearly landing impressive shots?" Very unusual situation.TempleSlave wrote: ↑26 Oct 2024, 18:06 It’s unbelievable how many people, on a boxing forum, have Beterbiev as a winner.

Yeah, impossible that Beterbiev could have won because Bivol blocked all his punches. I guess Beterbiev didn't catch Bivol and have him in trouble twice either?
It was a close fight, there were lots of close rounds, it was no robbery. If Bivol wanted to solidify his claim to winning the fight he should have done more. I don't think either could complain about not getting their arm lifted. A draw would've been the fairest result but boxing is decided by rounds, not fairness.

Those are the details, but to the untrained eye it did look like Beterbiev was the more dominating fighter.
Bivol was also clearly struggling towards the end. All those doubts over Beterbiev's age proved unfounded.
Nevertheless, the judges are not supposed to be untrained, and should have been able to score the fight accordingly.
They didn't.
I think the vast majority of viewers would have been happier with a draw.
