the way moses has been moved for a teenager gives me hope that fwank has more confidence in him than a typical circuitous wbo paper route. its easy to poopy on mckean now, but he went into the 12th with hrg which isnt bad. stopped the super game upsetter johnny rice too. for moses to destroy him at 19 is impressive to me

wach too on paper shoulda given him rounds, even being shopworn marius still looked durable, yet moses again destroyed him.

moses already been in with area level types and destroyed them too

so far moses is getting matched tough for his age and passing the tests even better than i would have imagined. he obviously has a lot more to prove, like how he fares on the defensive, as the one under attack, but he is defo a red hot prospect for me, and i say this as someone who was not impressed with his first few blast outs of guys who just came to lay down. that hand speed is nothing short of elite world class, to me thats obvious already

Did he break McKean's ankle? Looked like his foot was facinf the wrong way on the second knockdown.

Very good win on paper, but I think slightly flattering Itauma, as the shot that did the real damage landed behind the head. (Not that that's his fault, McKean ducked into it and the accidental foul wasn't called.) still, he looks very exciting offensively, let's see what the new year brings in terms of opposition level

really exciting isn't it, be good to find some people to give him rounds if they can.

Might be a poor TV fight but Hughie Fury could give him everything he needs, as long as he doesn't slip up

A ko when the first knockdown was a shot on the back of the head is potentially a touch flattering. Moses is being talked of as a killer to the social media oafs now. Obviously he's a cut above Fisher, but there are still plenty of gut and chin checks ahead.

What about Dave Allen? He's a tough bastard, sure he would get some rounds in there.

Does seem to hit hard , Allen defends with his chin , basicly way way too quick for Allen , would probably put a severe beating on the slow cumbersome Allen

Joe Joyce, easier to hit than Big Frase but more durable. He'd force Itauma to show what he can do on the back foot

how about the slick moving ukrainian who beat kash ali, gorman, and then a big unbeaten cuban recently? myronets https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/913039

joe goodall is a big strong lump, kinda like a discount version of joyce https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/824368

vlad sirenko signed with warren. hes got solid fundementals and a snazzy looking 22-0 to sell a main event but looks pretty athletically basic https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/800125

jermaine franklin, though chubby, showed durability vs aj and whyte: https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/716569

pulev is sound boxer with a good jab and lots of experience, but at 43 moses should be able to make those legs shaky https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/511850

theres also an easy ebu title if theyre interested https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/762250

I wonder if they will slow down with him. I haven’t looked but McKean I’m sure would be fairly high up in the rankings, surely banging him out in 1 will put him top 10 with someone or even multiple organisations,

I'd be weighing up the Pulev fight if I were Warren. Pulev went hell for leather with AJ but couldn't really hurt him. Could be a deceptively easy win for Mo.

I wouldn't worry about him looking good, a tough fight will teach him much more and make him easier to match.

A Hughie Fury wouldn't be bad, just stick it right down the card.

For me Ray Mercer did Lennox Lewis a lot of favours, Mitch Green did to Tyson too, McDermott to Fury

I doubt Fisher will give Allen the rematch yet, Allen will give him some rounds at least.

Otherwise it needs to be the Whytes of this world which will be expensive, and after putting him in world class, he needs to stay there

If they want to move him fast, Big Turki should stump up for Jarrell Miller. That would be a good match soonish. Great yardstick and if he can't give him rounds, nobody can.

I'd prefer Allen first, Miller would be a big jump, nevertheless if he is going to be a world champ he will need to beat the Millers of this world
Ruiz is a durable bloke too, but again I think it's too soon to dump him in the deep end

I don't envy the matchmakers, it's really hard to match a guy like Moses.
Keeping busy is important, but who the heck do you put in with him that is both affordable and durable?
Mags had some good suggestions. But I get the feeling Moses is needing someone in the top 25 already. And most of those guys are in a holding pattern for turkey money, they aren't interested in being blasted out in two rounds by a teenager :oo

I take it with a pinch of salt, but Itauma's manager was saying that he liked the Hrgovic fight in an interview I watched during one of my many Christmas period hangovers in the past week.

Moses has never seemed keen on the Fisher fight that all around him have been desperate to build into some grudge match, rightfully seeing it as something already beneath him. I think Dave Allen has hopefully scuppered that one for now.

I wouldn't mind an all-British homecoming for Moses. David Adeleye, Frazer Clarke and Dillian Whyte are all names I like.

Fabio Wardley is obviously off the table, and I would hate to see Joe Joyce be used as a punchbag as I have a soft spot for the big fella.

Hughie Fury is sooo negative, same with Lawrence Okolie who might actually be able to take advantage of his gangly octopus frame against a relatively short heavyweight in Itauma. But maybe those are the type of guys he needs, who will spoil and take him rounds?

Dubois, AJ and Fury a step too far at the moment.

Moses Itauma project is a marathon, not a sprint, says Warren

Every promoter dreams of working with a young, explosive heavyweight but guiding them towards the top of boxing’s glamour division is never plain sailing.

Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) had been scheduled to round out his 2025 campaign on December 13 but securing a suitable, willing opponent for the dangerous 20-year-old from Chatham, Kent proved problematic.

Eventually, Queensberry secured the services of America’s Jermaine Franklin Jr (24-2, 15 KOs) and the two will box at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena on January 24.

“This is an important fight for Moses,” Itauma’s promoter, allegedly said at Monday’s launch press conference.

“He's a young man, 20 years of age. He'll be 21 by the time this event takes place. He’s ranked No. 1 with the WBA and the WBO after 13 bouts. No amateur experience as a senior and he's done magnificently well. He’s in now with a real seasoned campaigner in Jermaine. He’s 24-2 and those losses on his record were against a very good Dillian White and AJ and he went the distance with them. So, can Moses do what they couldn't do?

“Jermaine fancies this job. That's why he's here. This is a big moment for young Moses in his career but I believe in him and I believe he'll step up and I believe that he'll deliver.”

Over the past few years, a series of exciting, unpredictable fights have kept the heavyweights in the headlines but the division is undergoing a changing of the guard.

On Monday alone, 38-year-old unified title holder and The Ring champion, Oleksandr Usyk, announced that he had vacated his WBO title belt whilst two-time unified champion, Anthony Joshua, confirmed that he will fight Jake Paul - and fatten his retirement fund - on December 19. The Ring’s No.1-ranked fighter, Tyson Fury, of course, remains officially retired.

Fighters like newly promoted WBO champion and The Ring’s No. 2-ranked heavyweight, Fabio Wardley, and The Ring’s No. 3-ranked fighter, Agit Kabayel, now hold an increasing amount of power but it is Itauma who is widely regarded as the future of heavyweight boxing.

Every ambitious heavyweight on the planet knows they are one punch away from a life changing opportunity and none are willing to risk their position to fight somebody like Itauma without being extremely well compensated for their time.

Itauma needs to fight. The Ring’s No. 9-ranked heavyweight isn’t quite ready to be thrown in with the calibre of opponents capable of generating the revenue that would satisfy all parties and his promoters are, understandably, unwilling to be held to ransom by fighters lower down the rankings.

In the rock solid Franklin, Warren looks to have found the ideal opponent at the ideal time. The Hall of Fame promoter admits that matching Itauma has become a tricky balancing act but insists that there will be no shortcuts taken.

“It is tough but he had no senior amateur bouts and it's not a pissing contest or a 100 meter dash, it's a marathon. We’ve got to make the right moves at the right time but this fight, I think, is a fight where we're going to gauge where he's at,” Warren told The Ring.

“He's only had three competitive rounds this year. That’s all he’s had.”

Although Itauma collected an impressive haul of junior and youth amateur titles, his unpaid career spanned just 24 fights and he has completed just 26 rounds as a professional.

Initially, the public bought into Itauma’s quest to break Mike Tyson’s record of becoming the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history. That deadline has passed but Itauma has quickly become appointment viewing and people tune in or buy tickets to his fights expecting to see something spectacular.

Itauma is still learning and growing inside the ring but doing so as a headlining act does add a weight of expectation.

“Of course there is and a lot of pressure has been put on him, some of that himself because he said he wanted to win the world title as the youngest guy ever,” Warren said.

“He’s 21 on December 28 and he still has ambitions to be the youngest Brit to ever win a world title and that's his goal.

“I genuinely think that if he comes through this fight he'll fight for a world title next year.”

Perfect opponent for Moses, and Frank too, as there’s zero chance he’s going to lose.

Though he might come out of it with everyone saying oh he’s not as good as we thought he was, if it goes the distance. That won’t matter though, as it’ll be great experience.

But it’s looking like he’s planning to grab a world title without actually having fought anyone, if they go for that 50-year-old palooka with the tinpot belt, which’ll be a big disappointment.

And you just know what that’s the way his promoter will go: big reward, zero risk, and couldn’t give a toss what the public thinks.
