I respect your opinion but tend to take a different stance, he took a lot of heat in that fight, and has fought some very heavy punches from high level opposition over the years - Ortiz, Whyte, Yoka, Price. I understand your point vs Price and Clarke though, but do feel there was a level of redemption in the Fisher fight. Time will tell if it is sustained, I hope it is personally.

People can be a bit hard on Fisher. He barely put a foot wrong until Allen, who is tough and was up for it. Fisher’s ear was also injured.

Most importantly he’s a virtual novice with little amateur experience. He can still punch hard. I mean matched right he could win a British title depending on who’s in the other corner

as fighters move up in levels their abilities and shortcomings become more evident. fisher, maybe he can set this straight and improve a lot in the future, but that one didnt look good at all for him. a total gift, shouldve been allen's first meaningful win in ages. johnny has shown some power but never really much boxing skill for a whole fight, he will need to work on that

I thought Johnny did okay against Allen.
He lost, that's obvious to anyone except his dad apparently.
But he was brave, he was fit, he was just not experienced enough to handle a very motivated Dave Allen on the night.
When he couldn't blast Dave outta there like he did Babic, there didn't seem to be a plan B. And that's the rub. What the fight showed is a fighter and a team that couldn't change tact and come up with another plan.
Fisher had the reach and height to just jab at Allen and keep him at distance, but for the last 6 rounds he kept doing the same thing and to me that showed a lack of ring intelligence, which I think might hinder his development beyond the domestic scene .

“Everyone was writing me off but I knew that he’d been boxing five minutes – well not five minutes but you know what I mean – and I’d been boxing forever, [winning] national amateur titles and stuff,” he told Sky Sports News. “I knew it was a fight that if I got in the gym for a bit I should beat him.

“As for the decision, I don't make the decision, the judges do. I have to respect their opinions. I’ve watched the fight back since, I thought I deserved the decision but I didn't get it, we move on, and hopefully it happens again. I thought I won it but I think we might put it right pretty soon.

Allen believes that he would defeat Fisher in a rematch.

“I think it's the wrong fight for him but realistically where else does he go?” he said.” He can go and fight someone else and get beat anyway; his ceiling has been shown now. He’s been beaten by me in lots of peoples eyes – someone who hasn't boxed for years. He’s got to put that right if he’s going to continue on his trajectory to the top or wherever they perceive him to be going – he has to beat me. I honestly think the rematch, if and when it happens, will only go one way.”

British heavyweights Johnny Fisher and Dave Allen will reunite in a heavyweight rematch at London’s Copper Box Arena on Saturday May 17 following their controversial first fight back in December.

Romford’s Fisher, 13-0 (11 KOs), defeated Allen, 32-7-2 (18 KOs), via split decision on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury II in Saudi Arabia, but plenty disagreed with the verdict.

“I’m excited to put on another great fight for the fans and win in even better fashion this time around,” said Fisher, who was knocked down by Allen in round five.

“I’m excited to be getting another great opportunity,” said Allen. “To headline shows twice in London means a great deal to a kid from a small village in Doncaster. This time I will be bringing home the victory.”

The last time Fisher boxed at the Copper Box he managed to stop Croatia’s Alen Babic inside a round. He will be hoping for something just as decisive when he meets Allen again in May.

Allen, meanwhile, will do everything he can to take the decision out of the judges’ hands and level the score.

Fisher has a good attitude. He knows there's a real chance he could get clobbered and he's still fronting up. Shows he knows his level and that being in some tough domestic dust-ups is his future. Nothing wrong with that, he's gone up in my estimations.

DAVE ALLEN CONFIDENT OF WINNING FISHER REMATCH: NOW I'VE GOT A BRAIN

HEAVYWEIGHT Dave Allen says he feels like a kid again after securing his anticipated rematch with Johny Fisher.

Allen, 32, dropped a controversial split decision defeat to Fisher during their initial encounter in Riyadh on December 21 despite many observers believing he did enough to win.

As a result, 26-year-old Fisher, who was dropped in the fifth round, moved to 13-0 and it was unclear whether or not he would accept an immediate rematch.

But on Friday in London, the return was officially announced with Fisher and Allen set to meet again at an event titled ‘The Inquest’ at the Copper Box Arena on May 17.

Now 32-year-old Allen, who kicked off his professional career way back in 2012, says the Fisher saga has breathed new life into his career.

He said: “I feel like a young kid again but this time I’ve got a brain.

“I’m surprised to be headlining a show again to be honest. I couldn't believe it when I got the first one. I’m grateful to be here, probably to Johnny for giving me the opportunity for the Saudi fight in the first place.

“I told Johnny after the first fight I probably wouldn’t do it so soon. I’ve not really had a proper fight for six years but as soon as I got back in the gym after the fight I felt great.”

When asked whether he regrets not putting his foot down in a bid to find a late stoppage in the first fight, Allen smiled.

“My foot was down,” he said. “It couldn’t be any further. I was knackered. There are no excuses. I put him over in the fifth and tried to finish it and probably tried too hard really. You get excited. I was in Saudi Arabia about to knock this kid out.

“But I have no regrets, he did well to tough it out. The fella hung in there for 10 rounds and gave himself the chance to get the decision which he did. Now we will do it again, the first fight has been and gone.

“I wouldn’t say I’m excited for camp, I’m not that excited really, It’s hard work isn’t it? We will train hard for 10 weeks and I firmly believe I win the fight. I will win the fight one million per cent. I will knock him out as well.”

hope Dave does it. What is ominous though is despite Dave having still been training he has 2.5 stone to lose according to Jamie. I'm a massive Dave fan but this poor prep when the fight was always on the cards.

Really hope some of the talk about Allen having 30lb to lose was a hoax to get fisher to sign it… surely he knew this or something else big was coming and even if he wasn’t sparing was trying to stay near weight.

A 10 week camp needs to start quality… not get quality the last 4 weeks…

Also I think turning up in shape would be a huge mental win for Dave, if fisher knows Dave is fit enough to fight 10/12 and he knows how good Dave’s chin is, he will be hesitant early. (That said Mabey hesitant jabbing fisher is the ticket to victory)

But he has to show something new to do that.

If he goes after Allen, putting everything into every punch, he will blow up again.

Needs to start stealing rounds on the jab so he will have enough in the tank for the hard rounds.

Obviously Fisher will never be a SRL, and some fighters he will be able to walk through, but he has to learn how to beat the Allen's of this world on points without going life and death
