BTW Teddy Atlas in his book (published in 2006)does not mention the name of the boxer whom
almost made Tyson quit in the ring in only his 5th amateur fight (but Mike Tyson does mention the fighter in his 2013 book)
page 82 of Teddy Atlas's book ,
"It was a watershed moment for him, a real defining moment,
because if he had quit then he might never had been Mike Tyson"
.
check out this article from 2013.

Re: What are True Crossroads Fights?
also in Teddy Atlas's book concerning that bout he wrote ;
"It's amazing when you think about it.
You see all those big fights on HBO,
but you never see the backwater bouts when a guy is on his way up,
and there are those crossword moments where if he hadn't overcome something
he'd have never made it to HBO".

Re: What are True Crossroads Fights?
yeah, they thought back then that Rocky was going to get "Moided" by Billy Arnold.
since the dude was said to have had a punch like "Joe Louis".

it's amazing someone had a color 8 mm r camera to bring with them ringside 80 years ago !
I wonder what that original film stock would look like down if it had never been copied at some point
since then.9looks like it was developing heavy catatacts in it
btw the recorder must have dropped the camera when Graziano knocked him out the ring, they got so excited. .

Re: What are True Crossroads Fights?
Ray Leonard thought that he was fighting another welterweight, instead he wound up fighting a full fledged
Middleweight (who just 're-hydrated back up to Middleweight after the weigh-in and also happened to also be one of the hardest punchers in the division)
