Post by stujones »

From BBC.

Catley announces comeback fight

Former WBC super-middleweight champion Glenn Catley is to return to the ring after three years out.
The 34-year-old Bristol fighter will make his comeback at Ashton Gate on 3 November against an as yet unnamed opponent.

Catley, a fomer British middleweight champion, won the WBC title against German Markus Beyer in 2000.

Having lost it in his first defence, he quit after defeat by Danilo Haussler in February 2003.

"I'm fit, I'm confident and I'll be ready to go," he said. "If anyone doubted I was serious about fighting again, they now know otherwise."

-------------------------------
I wish him the best, think he could make things interesting.

Think this may be just a money-grabbing move? Personally I'd still like to see Catley-Reid, two former WBC champs at 168, give it a go.

Hmm not so sure Axe, a ring rusty Catley versus Reid who is now extremely slow and basically shot...would be messy at best.

Yes he will box at Super-Middle. He is looking good in the gym and sharp in the gym.

I do feel Catley is coming back for the money, I doubt he has a whole lot. He was working nights as as security guard close to his WBC title fight with Woodhall I believe.
Glen always seemed like a top bloke, I think he'd make a good commentator. I'm not basing that on much but could he be worse than Duke?
Glen was a good commentator in a few BBC shows.

Robin Reid has recently called out Carl Froch, for whats that worth.
