Bektemir Melikuziev vs. Darius Fulghum | DAZN - May 30, 2025
Re: Bektemir Melikuziev vs. Darius Fulghum | DAZN - May 30, 2025
I had Bek ahead by three. I was pleased to see he got it, when I heard "all three judges have it the same" I thought it was a bad sign. I thought he landed the significantly better shots throughout. Fulghum is a good fighter, but he strikes me as a bit more limited than what I'd thought before. He'd probably beat most other guys at 168 though aside from the very top.

fulghum just far too easy to hit, even when bek was ragged he could barely miss him. when you get hit that much you better be able to overwhelm guys with 100 punches a round or serious power. fulghum was pretty fit and physically strong but not quite enough there to get over bek's much better quality of work. you could guess easy who the olympic silver was

just one KD?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑31 May 2025, 00:42 bek takes it, round of applause for both guys
114-112 all 3 judges, all reasonable
So scores would have been 114-113 for Bek?

I had it 113-113 the point off for holding costing Melikuziev on my card but scores were perfectly fine, Fughum started off well using his height and range to trouble Melikuziev even stunning him but Melikuziev had a big 3rd hurt Fughum to the head and body and had him reeling, it was a good back and forth tussle where both guys hit the other, Melikuziev was bloodied and looked a bit disheveled but he pinged the head back of Fughum with the southpaw lefts, really good competitive scrap and Melikuziev finished strong, dropping Fughum with a left in the 12th to get the win

Really nice fight , what gift I came in around the 3rd round , perfect distraction for de compressing from stressful work week.
Very evenly matched fighters, Uzbek with more holes in his defense than Swiss cheese, main defense for Uzbek was his big left hand and when he got tired that meant he could not throw it as much and became vulnerable.
Close fight hats off to Uzbek, won't last long or climb to elite with that defense although in around 5th round boxed real well when he got tired and kept turning his opponent and jabbing should have fought that way most of the fight probably easier said than done when under fire.
Didn't agree with point deduction by ref for holding all in all a very good fight...

I thought the decision was spot one. Melikuziev needs to tighten his defense a lot.

Was at both the Golden Boy and PBC cards this weekend in Vegas, this bout stole the show.
