I've been reading the media, I imagine that none of the journalists actually watched the fight, unless they were watching another one!

I don't know how any real boxing fan thinks compubox stats are legit?? Seriously, how do you think those stats came about? It's somebody sitting there pushing buttons and to push a button for a punch and then decide did it land, was it a power punch, etc??? What are their qualifications to do that. Have they ever been a real boxing judge for fights, casual fan, buddy of the promoter, etc? It's a gimmick for the production of the show for the casual fan. I would think Boxrec fans are more than that and would never say well...compubox stats said bla bla bla

I agree with you 100% on this one. She throws so many punches that are a foot short.gregregegg wrote: ↑12 Jul 2025, 00:12 One thing I don’t think I have seen befor, Amanda has thrown about 200 punches from way out of range. Like falling over a foot short. Is that just for optics? She mush know she’s 10 feet away…
Maybe she needs contacts lens, I don’t know.
But luckily it fooled none of the judges in their three fights

It doesn’t really suck at all. They were 3 close fights and she wasn’t good enough to steal them.gregregegg wrote: ↑12 Jul 2025, 00:20 I had Serrano winning all 3 and she lost all 3.
That really has to suck.
I think where I differ from the judges is I give Taylor very little credit for a 3 arm punch combo with zero power… but I think that has been her bread and butter her entire career and somehow got her considered potential GWOAT.
I don’t quite understand how in pro boxing you can reward that pitter patter points style, it’s one of my main frustrations with the ams.
You said it yourself in earlier post in the thread, she throw way too many punches that land well short. You don’t get points for that.
If she closed the distance on that crap, maybe she could have won all 3

I mean I don’t know how they do it but it would be pretty easy.JMac wrote: ↑12 Jul 2025, 14:50I don't know how any real boxing fan thinks compubox stats are legit?? Power punch is just defined as anything other than a jab.
You could have one man watching with a button although that would be crude and inaccurate.
You could have one guy with all the angles and telecasting equipment taking 10 mins per round w hi on would get it pretty fvcking good.
You could have a team taking an hour a round in slow mo all angles and it would be very good..
Or any set up inbetweeen
Always some gray area on half lands or kinda on the glove shots and the biggest thing… punches are not worth the same… a wilder windmill bomb is not worth the same as a McKinnon check hook. but it’s not actualy used for anything other than a vibe and a bit of a talking point.

Taylor won comfortably this time round.gregregegg wrote: ↑12 Jul 2025, 01:03That's a bold take... clear? What clear rounds did Taylor win? I am not convinced Taylor won a single "clear" round..
there was not a single round that Taylor landed at least 3 more punches than Amanda.... there is not one singular Katy Taylor punch that made me think "woah good shot", she was just arm punch flurrying now and then...
So without any big shots, and not clearly outlanding her opponent, how could you possibly have Taylor on the back foot scoring a clear victory. (I am perfectly ok with you having her winning, just not clear)
I agree with you that the other two could have gone the other way but not this one.
All the eye catching shots were landed by Taylor.
I understand Serrano’s logic for trying a different tactic but it didn’t suit her & this time round her & her team knew they’d lost & didn’t argue otherwise post fight.

Kinda like the GGG-Canelo trilogy.
First two very disputed. Many had it 2-0 GGG heading to the third. But the third was a clear Canelo win.

Everyone claiming this was clear is going to make me have to go rewatch one of the boringest fights I have seen.
I just refuse to believe she had more than 5 “clear round” I’m not 100% sure she had more than 1 clear round…

Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano III averaged nearly six million viewers
The final installment of the trilogy between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano averaged nearly six million live viewers around the world, according to a press release from Most Valuable Promotions.
Taylor-Serrano III streamed on Netflix on Friday, July 11, headlining a show featuring solely female boxers, including several of the top names in the sport. Taylor’s successful defense of her junior welterweight crown was one of three undisputed championship fights during the event and one of five title bouts.
The card was the most-watched selection on Netflix that day in the United States, where an average of 4.2 million viewers watched the main event. It was also No. 1 on Netflix in Ireland (where Taylor is from), Australia (where undercard fighter Cherneka Johnson lives) and New Zealand (where Johnson was born). The event was in Netflix’s Top 10 in a total of 43 countries.
MVP says Taylor-Serrano III was the most-watched professional women’s sporting event of 2025, and had the second-highest audience for any women’s sporting event after the average of 8.5 million viewers who tuned in for this year’s NCAA women’s basketball championship game.
The second fight between Taylor and Serrano was also on Netflix, as the co-feature in last November’s huge event headlined by Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson.
According to Netflix’s announcement last year, Taylor-Serrano II averaged 50 million households (which is not the same thing as live viewers) worldwide. The show itself peaked at 65 million households globally.
As for the live gate on Friday, MVP announced a crowd of 19,721 people at Madison Square Garden and a gate of $2.63 million.
“Taylor vs. Serrano III wasn’t just a fight; it was the start of a movement for boxing and redefined what’s possible for women’s sports on a global stage,” said Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian of MVP in a statement. “Nearly six million people tuned in to witness history, with 4.2 million viewers in the U.S., which was more than this year’s Stanley Cup Final, the WNBA Final and the French Open Finals for both the women and men matches.
“At MVP, we’ve made it our mission to make women’s boxing a global force, and this is proof that the demand is there for premium content and only growing. The most viewed all-women's boxing or MMA event in history. We’re proud to have built the largest platform in the world for female fighters, and we’re just getting started.”
