Thing with terrestrial tv, it’s not a bad thing of course but at the same time it has to have a decent investment.

As we know from previous years.. they’re just not that interested in backing boxing big.

Would be a shame if he went the YouTube route.

The issue Boxxer have is they were struggling to put on a good quantity of quality shows on Sky Sports with c. £8-9m a year of broadcast revenue.

There’s no way they’ll get close to that from someone else. Particularly a terrestrial channel as they’re struggling financially.

They signed several fighters to big guarantees and they’ll have to renegotiate deals or release fighters.

I’d quite like to see them have a terrestrial deal but they’ll only be able to get a similar amount to what they offered Terri Harper to fight on a undercard on Sky in totality for a show.

They will get paid peanuts on BBC , so won't be the likes of Whittaker. If the BBC put on the odd Saturday night main event before Match of the Day with the rest of the show on IPlayer it might do ok

we should be televising and rejuvenating everything below world level. support local by removing paywalls. have ads between rounds. British title fights etc. stick on terrestrial tv, like the old days when you'd walk past the tv as a kid and see big daddy and giant haystacks

i watch the international matches on tv at the sharp end of the tournament. great fun! went to the Emirates a few times with my girlfriend to see women's as well. it's entertaining and cheap.

The more boxing on terrestrial tv the better but we all know the BBC won’t be paying much. Shalom will need to work hard to push the shows because the BBC won’t offer close to the same publicity that Sky do.

The only way I can see this working for Boxxer and their stable is if the BBC shows are used for their lower level fighters and it’s supplemented by shows on Sky still. Small number of fights on a show with the BBC and headlined by something like a British title. Then 6 shows or something on Sky with bigger names and budgets.

While the BBC won't pay anywhere near sky money, it is still an opportunity to maximise revenue elsewhere, obviously ticket sales but also sponsorship, from the ring apron to tattoos on the fighters back!

The BBC are only interested because it is cheap, having a few women signed to Boxxer will help Shaloms cause as it fits the BBC's output at the moment.
