Thing with terrestrial tv, it’s not a bad thing of course but at the same time it has to have a decent investment.
As we know from previous years.. they’re just not that interested in backing boxing big.
Would be a shame if he went the YouTube route.
If only CH5 were available. But again, comes down to the TV deal.

Re: Boxxer hold talks with BBC iPlayer
The issue Boxxer have is they were struggling to put on a good quantity of quality shows on Sky Sports with c. £8-9m a year of broadcast revenue.
There’s no way they’ll get close to that from someone else. Particularly a terrestrial channel as they’re struggling financially.
They signed several fighters to big guarantees and they’ll have to renegotiate deals or release fighters.
I’d quite like to see them have a terrestrial deal but they’ll only be able to get a similar amount to what they offered Terri Harper to fight on a undercard on Sky in totality for a show.

You would have thought Price and Artingstall would want that Jake Paul money.
Big Fraze probably wants Queensberry home of the heavyweights.
and Whittaker seems like he would make a good Matchroom fighter.

Poor old Ben Peace.
He was ragged and abused by Frank and his boy Eddie, treated like an oily cloth

Re: Boxxer hold talks with BBC iPlayer
They will get paid peanuts on BBC , so won't be the likes of Whittaker. If the BBC put on the odd Saturday night main event before Match of the Day with the rest of the show on IPlayer it might do ok

Yh that’s true. Match of the day.
I usually record it and watch it later anyway.
iPlayer isn’t the worst

The real test will be to see who stays with him.
He does have some women, esp Price, but Benji won't be able to compete with JP. And realistically Price is the best out there

Re: Boxxer hold talks with BBC iPlayer
Just for some context, it was reported last year that Sky and the BBC had splurged £65m to secure the rights to show women’s football for the next 5 seasons. Thirteen million quid a year to show a niche sport with tiny viewing figures
But neither of them seem prepared to put a comparable sum into boxing even though they know as well as we do that there’s a huge untapped dormant audience who would watch boxing regularly if it were more accessible

Wonder what the viewing figures are for the rubbish matches they're showing at prime time at the moment compared to a decent boxing show at the same time ?CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 21:07 Just for some context, it was reported last year that Sky and the BBC had splurged £65m to secure the rights to show women’s football for the next 5 seasons. Dead right. Just wait until there’s a recession and all the sponsors and broadcasters pull in their purse strings. Women’s football will be one of the first to pay the price.Coco wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025, 06:21Be interesting to see, I reckon it's low, can't see folk wants to watch other than family and friendstony1234 wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025, 06:15Wonder what the viewing figures are for the rubbish matches they're showing at prime time at the moment compared to a decent boxing show at the same time ?CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 21:07 Just for some context, it was reported last year that Sky and the BBC had splurged £65m to secure the rights to show women’s football for the next 5 seasons. we should be televising and rejuvenating everything below world level. support local by removing paywalls. have ads between rounds. British title fights etc. stick on terrestrial tv, like the old days when you'd walk past the tv as a kid and see big daddy and giant haystacksRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 12:12Yh that’s true. The game last night had a peak of 7.4m viewers.Coco wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025, 06:21Be interesting to see, I reckon it's low, can't see folk wants to watch other than family and friendstony1234 wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025, 06:15Wonder what the viewing figures are for the rubbish matches they're showing at prime time at the moment compared to a decent boxing show at the same time ?CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 21:07 Just for some context, it was reported last year that Sky and the BBC had splurged £65m to secure the rights to show women’s football for the next 5 seasons. Women’s football is currently relatively cheap compared to other sports and id imagine the broadcasters get decent value for money out of them.

How can you say the penalty shoot out was rubbish?tony1234 wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025, 06:15Wonder what the viewing figures are for the rubbish matches they're showing at prime time at the moment compared to a decent boxing show at the same time ?CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 21:07 Just for some context, it was reported last year that Sky and the BBC had splurged £65m to secure the rights to show women’s football for the next 5 seasons. As proven , the standard is pretty woeful.
Re: Boxxer hold talks with BBC iPlayer
Say you are watching tennis or gymnastics for example, you are seeing genuine quality.
Probably why in tennis the money is akin for the men.
I can only imagine folk watch women's football for comedy value, or maybe to perv.
Was the 7.4 watching on terrestrial tv? For me after watching extra time, it's the first game I've ever seen, it's enough for me not to turn on again.

That shootout last night is proof enough why womens football, like womens boxing is but a small blip of box ticking on the inevitable road to common sense

Re: Boxxer hold talks with BBC iPlayer
The more boxing on terrestrial tv the better but we all know the BBC won’t be paying much. Shalom will need to work hard to push the shows because the BBC won’t offer close to the same publicity that Sky do.
The only way I can see this working for Boxxer and their stable is if the BBC shows are used for their lower level fighters and it’s supplemented by shows on Sky still. Small number of fights on a show with the BBC and headlined by something like a British title. Then 6 shows or something on Sky with bigger names and budgets.

Re: Boxxer hold talks with BBC iPlayer
While the BBC won't pay anywhere near sky money, it is still an opportunity to maximise revenue elsewhere, obviously ticket sales but also sponsorship, from the ring apron to tattoos on the fighters back!maverick23 wrote: ↑19 Jul 2025, 03:49 The more boxing on terrestrial tv the better but we all know the BBC won’t be paying much. If women's football can get 7.4 million, a good promoter should do more

Re: Boxxer hold talks with BBC iPlayer
The BBC are only interested because it is cheap, having a few women signed to Boxxer will help Shaloms cause as it fits the BBC's output at the moment.
