Shame they got rid of Mike Costello. They didn't have to give Smith every UK dazn show. Just let him cover the queens berry ones if he had to do something and an up-and-coming doing the GBM and Costello can do the Matchroom ones. As in most cases in boxing it's not what you know, It's who.

And explaining why Bellew was nicknamed Bomber
"The bomber tattooed on his back..." speech has gone into folklore as one of the most horrific pieces of commentary. I still don't know to this day what he was thinking.

For all the theories, I simply believe he wanted to virtue signal something about the Manchester bombings and sat down the night before to come up with something that sounded clever after putting two and two to together with Bellew's nickname.

This fight is a tasty hor's doeurve for whats coming up!

"LIVE ON DAZN!!" x 100 times thoughout the night

You couldn't put into words how much I dislike the bloke at this point. The lad who said his wife said "How can you listen to him all night?" sums it up well.

The irony is, I might have actually one day forgotten about the bombing at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

But I will never ever be able to forget Adam Smith’s utterly bizarre reference to it.

I can’t imagine it’s an easy job having to commentate on a live fight as it’s happening in front of your eyes with thousands listening to you. Trying to not repeat yourself and without umming and ahing isn’t easy.

thats true, but if anything id say vocal aspect is his strong point in terms of having a good commentary voice and being able to keep talking

the problem is what he says

I sort of get what everyone is saying , he can be really annoying , and he just goes on and on and on , like a slow monotonous record , sometimes he talks sence but puts it across in a ridiculous manner,, that has you scratching your head , hIs comments about Lenera being in sparring partner mode were correct , .

But then he's likely to go off with the fairies about a wonderful jacket Derik was wearing the other day , with silk lined pockets , gold emblem and a matching handbag , all through the grace and genorosity of his higness King TutTUT , lEAVING YOU SCRATCHING YOUR HEAD THINKING WHAT THE FOOK HIS HE ON ABOUT .

But really he's just a procuct of the tv world these guys are really starting to think there more important and bigger stars than the boxers , I mean we even have u tube full off want to be stars and presenters interviewing people like GAD the biggest bellend of them all who really does think its more about him than the boxers .

There are people who make it look easy though, all the decent commentators sky use for football, tennis, golf etc Darren fletcher, Ian Darke, Barry jones..not f*cking Adam Smith though. Does Hearn even know how much he is hated? I’d love to get hold of his ear and tell him. And with the peanut headed Smith it’s all about favours, because he opened the bloody doors wide open for Eddie Hearn over at sky, as their hapless head of boxing, so Eddie owes him and here we are. He’s bloody everywhere, and not that “nice guy” everyone goes on about either. If he followed you through a revolving door he’d probably still come out first.

Yeah, it can't be easy but some people are good at it so they should be the ones doing it. He's had years of experience and is still shit. The rest of us would get sacked for that in any other workplace.

Why don’t you think he’s a nice guy?

Also it wouldn’t solely be Eddie’s decision as to who the main U.K. play by play guy is for DAZN. He’d have input but it’s DAZN’s call.

I’ve always thought Adam Smith comes across as a nice bloke when I’ve heard him interviewed, his commentary doesn't wind me up like it seems to with others.

I thought that was Smith's best ever night, mostly because Barry Jones set him up with some good lines.

Jones is very good , he really does give an insight and good info , regards Smith well like i said i understand the dislike of his commentary , but not the dislike of him , he seems like a nice enough fella and he's definetly a real fan of boxing , For me the 2 worst i've ever sen or heard are Bunce and GAD , AND THERE NECK AND NECK over who's the worst but i think GAD is just slightly edging that one because he seems to be pushing his nose in the trout more and more

Haha forgot about that. Institutions like Sky have became very woke, overly sensitive to anything that might be offensive to anyone, manifesting in Smith essentially apologising for Bellew's boxing nickname. Embarrassing.
