Feel sorry for DD
Re: Feel sorry for DD
Bellew was effectively knocked out on his feet in the Stevenson fight.
Re: Feel sorry for DD
The daggers & back stabbers will always be there when DDD loses...and Dubois hasn't always helped himself in that regard.
DDD used to he more modest when he was coming through but he got a bit too full of himself prior to the Joe Joyce fight and The Juggernaut cut him down to size in humiliating fashion. Made him quit. A boxing "no no" for some.
Against Usyk in the rematch I think it was only a minor quit. Heavy knock down, senses scrambled and no chance of winning at all.

But how many fighters that appear to be losing turn it around and win. Especially someone who has one punch power like Dubois. It was an undisputed HW title fight too, he may never be in another one again.
Re: Feel sorry for DD
True. DDD was a beaten man and he knew it.
In fairness, after the first knock down DDD did go for broke against Usyk....and we all saw the outcome !
Also, how many fighters are getting taken apart AND up against Usyk.
Oleksander can dig deep and turn a fight his way when things are getting tough, let alone if he is in full control.

But with that mindset everyone might as well give up as soon as they are losing. It more highlights that Dubois is more likely to lose heart when things aren’t going his way rather than trying to turn it around.THEBUTCH wrote: ↑25 Jul 2025, 04:43 True. DDD was a beaten man and he knew it.

Boomer turned his back on Stevenson
Re: Feel sorry for DD
Said on here a few times a while back. that Dd quit once and would find it easier next time and he has live and death just is.nt in his make-up he.s obviously a front runner and will always quit when he gets hurt and loses confidence annoying thing is I read he's still calling Usyk a cheat and wants a trilogy .if he does what a load of shit . Frank should make him fight Kayabel or Parker .or even Moses

He was gone by then though, sagged against the ropes more than actually making a decision to turn his back, he also could have gone down but didn't.

I haven’t watched it in a long time, but there was something about it that gave people the impression Tony wanted out of there - maybe it was earlier than the stoppage, Or maybe it was his big talk beforehand, then wasn’t up to much when the bell rang - I think Steve Bunce mentioned it and almost got his head ripped off by Bellew on a phone in

Re: Feel sorry for DD
I remember Bellew talking about the weight cut for Stephenson and it sounded horrendous, I think he said he was knackered after a round or so as he was so drained.
Re: Feel sorry for DD
Boomer said he'd come back on here even if he lost to Stephenson, and to be fair to him he did.
Re: Feel sorry for DD
Boomer looked like a corpse at light heavy, in comparison, Stevenson looked like a brick shithouse.Controversial wrote: ↑25 Jul 2025, 14:23 I remember Bellew talking about the weight cut for Stephenson and it sounded horrendous, I think he said he was knackered after a round or so as he was so drained.

Re: Feel sorry for DD
It's firmly established that DDD is known for quitting, but he has never bailed at the first sign of trouble and the Hrgovic & Miller fights presented him with some tricky moments before prevailing.
It seems to be overlooked in the hurry to damn DDD that even in losing....the fights are entertaining.
I'll take Dubois over the likes of, say, Henry Akinwande or Johnny Nelson skirting around the ring and clutching for dear life as soon things get remotely competitive.

I agree. There’s actually an argument that his efforts were a better watch than AJ’s or Fury’s. No surviving/fiddling about, he’s gone out to get a KO.THEBUTCH wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025, 05:48 It's firmly established that DDD is known for quitting, but he has never bailed at the first sign of trouble and the Hrgovic & Miller fights presented him with some tricky moments before prevailing.

Re: Feel sorry for DD
Dubois definitely went for the win. Shoot or bust.
That final left hand from Usyk was a fight finisher.

Re: Feel sorry for DD
How does this "quit" tag actually help anyone?
Absolutely pointless drivel for clicks and likes mostly.
Usyk is a level above anyone currently, no biggie really, probably sour gamblers that have lost fortunes too .
It's boxing, a sport , with winners and losers .

The levels thing is a problem. He turned pro at 26. He'd won the Olympics and competed in multiple European championships, a world cup and the WSOB. He had faced every stule out there in elite competition, often in hostile environments before he took off his vest. Itauma and Atang never had a senior bout.
