I think he is. Not fair to say he went from failed robber to boxing trainer, he was in the sport long before and it's been in the family for generations.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025, 17:23 Is Bowers any good as a trainer ? Always been curious at his career progression from failed robber to leading boxing trainer
Was he an amateur boxer or did he just emerge as a cornerman ?Coco wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025, 19:50I think he is. Obviously he has his own gym, been at it all his life in the hotbed of boxing which is Canning Town
I don't think he boxed, prob did something as a kid, but as I said it's a family firm, his uncle Jackie had boxed for years before being one of the main trainers in the Peacock, and I think all the brothers and cousins have all done their bits and pieces and been involvedCaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025, 20:24Was he an amateur boxer or did he just emerge as a cornerman ?Coco wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025, 19:50I think he is. On the balance of probabilities I assumed he is fairly useful as a trainer based on the same logic that makes me think someone like Ben Davison must have something to offer or he wouldn't keep getting hired.
Very true and everyone has a past. I’ve seen him at small shows in Scunthorpe in the corner of a journeyman he clearly loves the sportCoco wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025, 19:50I think he is. don't be silly - if that was it he'd be Ryan "The Banana" Garner !

Everyone does have a past but for most it doesn’t involve being a major player in a serious organised crime group.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025, 06:25Very true and everyone has a past. He has only been done once, non violent, no arms job to save the gym.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025, 17:17Everyone does have a past but for most it doesn’t involve being a major player in a serious organised crime group.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025, 06:25Very true and everyone has a past. Kinahan got a lot of stick on these pages, from what I can see he and Bowers are cut from the same cloth
I think I’d have a lot more than a libel charge to worry about if Bowers took offence to my comments. Somebody on here regularly used to post links to the Operation Tiberius report but it never gets referenced any more. Maybe Martin had a quiet word with him, who knows.Coco wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025, 17:46He has only been done once, non violent, no arms job to save the gym.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025, 17:17Everyone does have a past but for most it doesn’t involve being a major player in a serious organised crime group.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025, 06:25

You needs to be careful not to be libellous
There is a lot more against Kinahan then speculation
my thoughts entirely. personally i think he is very poor indeed. tucking your chin down is a basic fundamental of boxing. he will have his head removed from his shoulders the first time he steps up a little bit and faces a puncher.
I find that interesting to see how far they can go. Sort of adds some suspense to lower level fights.
Me neither - that should be a huge help - musta done something before..
