Yes, Eleta had legal authority to sign for bouts for Duran. This was common for managers in years past. Also, based on all the newspaper articles I've been reading, Duran trained ten weeks for the bout.

2 and a half months. I think it's fairly typical for guys to only have 6 or 8 weeks to prepare right yet Duran who was cheated to hell and back only had a measly 10 weeks.

I've gone through over 100 newspaper articles about this bout in response to this thread. One in particular is beyond belief: a couple of days before the bout, a reporter asked Duran if there was any chance he wouldn't give a full effort so that a lucrative rubber match could take place. Duran responded there could be. The assembled press broke out in laughter and the incident was explained as a translation issue that didn't allow Duran to understand the "nuances" of the English language.

The wicked North American evilness is just too strong in me I suppose.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some sinning to do. With the wickedness and so forth.
Until evil gets you and then you cry foul. It didn't happened to you. The point was that the guy was betrayed. Betrayal is a mother fuucker.

You just can't discern evil and good. By the way, you was never a righteous person to begin with.

He doesn't offer up any evidence for his assertions because none exists.
It does exist. Look it up.

My man goose found in another thread about this wicked matter that Carlos Eleta had the power of attorney to sign Roberto Duran's fighting contracts. Ain't that what you found, goose?

Tell them. The truth shall set you free, folks. There's a God upstairs that saw it all and knows it all.

See, when you look for truth and righteousness, is a beautiful thing. There's nothing greater in this life than to do good.

May JAH bless you, goose! :TU: :TU: :TU:
You and goose don't know anything about the law if you think a POA could sign a fight contract on behalf of a boxer. There is ZERO chance the fight would take place if one of the boxers didn't sign it personally.

It was a common practice for managers to sign for fights without the fighter also signing. Sugar Ray Robinson was an exception to this this, years ago. He insisted that he sign contracts and not just his manager.

Looking at Duran at those times, it's hard to pick him to win it.

Check with the Nevada State Athletic Commission and see if managers can sign for a but without a fighter signing.

You should do that and you might learn something about the law.
