Maybe but don't trainers normally get 10%? If reports are true Groves got £2 million for the Froch rematch so Fitzpatrick would've got £200,000 but that would've been taxed. A nice wedge but not life changing. I just googled him and he still runs a gym in Swindon.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025, 11:46I wonder what his cut was from the Froch Groves rematch, maybe he never really needed to work again after thatControversial wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025, 11:06 Old thread bump. Yeah £200k doesn't go that far these days. Wasn't money the reason why he parted company with Adam Booth at that time ? Be interesting to know what fee Adam wanted. I like him but he seems like the kind of guy who never underestimates his own valueControversial wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025, 12:12Maybe but don't trainers normally get 10%? They get 10% at the start, but that always get renegotiated when the serious money comes in.Controversial wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025, 12:12Maybe but don't trainers normally get 10%? That’s one of the reasons Naz and Ingle split.

Wasn’t that the first fight he trained Groves for and that was only because he split with Booth. I’d be surprised if Groves gave him a much more as he wasn’t a big name trainer compared to othersFrostieballs wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025, 14:56They get 10% at the start, but that always get renegotiated when the serious money comes in.Controversial wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025, 12:12Maybe but don't trainers normally get 10%? He was still there for the Badou Jack fight. Groves blames the defeat on him.

Yeah he trained him for 3 fights I believe, I just meant Froch 2 was the first fight he trained Groves formickey1975 wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025, 15:49 He was still there for the Badou Jack fight. Groves blames the defeat on him.

I never thought it was fair for Brendan to insist on 25%. As far as I'm aware that's where the dispute came from. Naz got 2 million for the Kelley fight. Can you really expect him to hand over 500k of that to Brendan straight away? It's far too high. 6 million for the Barrera fight. Brendan would have been expecting 1.5 million of that. Clearly that is absolutely ridiculous.

Based on the name I'm gonna assume he's Irish and Paddy is quite possibly short for Patrick, but we can't be certain. Or at least i can't.
That's what we have on Paddy Fitzpatrick at the moment.

And that Podcast was viewed by tens of people I'm sure. Add that to the list of things I'm aware of about Paddy Fitzgerald.

Tris Dixon. Wrote a book called "Road to Nowhere" I believe. I've read it. Somewhat interesting read though more depressing than anything.
That whole book has interviews in it too. I may watch that interview to learn a little more about this Addy RitzCarlton character.

Ridiculous from Brendan. He was bang out of order expecting that much and then castigating Naz for not paying it. I remember him saying Naz was getting called "King Rat" in the gym after he had left
Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
It sounds a lot but imagine how many hours go in before that, and the vast majority of boxers earn chump change so there's no money in it for the trainer.

I don’t think he was on anywhere near that. I think the fall out was around the 10% level being too much. Naz thought Brendan should just be happy with his new pair of gates! But it was all a long time ago and I could be wrong.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025, 18:24Ridiculous from Brendan. Individual situations aside, it must be frustrating to take a youngster from nowhere and develop them, to then get negotiated down.
At the beginning the fighter is prepared to offer anything - the purses are low and they just want to develop. It’s all seen as a team. Then the dollars start to roll in and everyone changes.
Perhaps the standard contract should deal with this in advance. 10% of any purses up to a set amount - and then a lower percentage after that.

I've always seen the 25% figure mentioned, even by Brendan himself. He said fighters didn't mind giving it early on in their career. Well of course when you're getting a couple of grand it's not that big of a hit but turning over the likes of 500k and upwards is stretching it. Off a purse of 2 million,I think a trainer should be happy with 100k. 200k would be extremely generous

Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
Groves blamed Paddy for the left hook strategy in the Froch rematch. Getting ironed out by a straight right hand while throwing the wider hook was straight out of amateur boxing. I still think groves would have won those fights if he fought a smarter fight both times.
Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
Managers 25%, trainers 10%
Brendan was on 25%, Dom was on 10%
Most gyms, where it is a one man job, the manager is the trainer too, and just takes the 25%.
When the bigger money comes, deals are often made., if Boxercise was on 10% he would be worth millions and millions

Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
Not a dig at Ben Davison just using him as an example. The fighters he has he has not had from the get go and the fighters are already established so why should he get 25%. Even with the McCormack brothers they turned over with a lot of hype and promoter backing so it would be unfair for Ben to get 25% of these bigger purses.
Going back to Brendan and Naz it’s completely different. As far as I’m aware Naz was always with Brendan throughout his amateur career so Naz was a product of what Brendan had created. He deserved every penny of the big money he was due to get. fair enough he weren’t taking the licks but if it weren’t for Brendan he might never of been in the position to take them in the first place

But 25% is the going rate.
Many managers also train the fighters, and it's 25% all in.
With the Ingles it certainly was 25% for Brendan and 10% for Dom/ John.
Dunno how Dom is doing it now.

Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
Fitzpatrick was a fantastic personality to have involved in the two Froch v Groves fights. I still remember the ring walks and fighter introductions in the first fight being absolutely superb and the overhead shot of the fighters and teams in the ring and Groves literally standing there with Fitzpatrick and the guy with the bucket and that was it was such a great image.
For the rematch Froch was much wiser to the mind games and there was a huge air of overconfidence for Groves’s fighters against Badou Jack. I remember watching it and seeing Groves knocked down in the first and there was a bit of a ‘oh bollocks this isn’t some quick KO what the hell now?’
