Moore vs Macklin who wins?

Post by stujones »

Really looking forward to the domestic clash that is coming up, both are favourite fighters of mine and I hope the loser can come back from this.

I am going for Macklin though, I think he has learned from the Facey fight - he definately gives me the impression of being bigger at the weight and I just think has that little more natural talent than Moore.

I think Macklin will stop him mid/late rounds.

It should be a cracker though.

I give Moore the edge in this because of his extra experience in the blood and thunder fights. He's proved he fight back from the brink of defeat and he might have to again in this one.

Macklin's in with a good shout. He digs with real purpose and Moore can be hurt, that's no secret. I'm not expecting Macklin to fold easily, but think Jamie can retain again.

Either way, it's more a case of sitting back and watch the sparks fly. Great match :TU:

Your first paragraph is why I am going for Macklin..... its who he got from the brink of defeat to is the problem. No disrespect to Michael Jones but apart from height and experience, I don't know one thing Michael does better than Macklin.

I think Macklin has speed, power and skills that are better than Jones. So if Jones can hit and hurt Moore - then Macklin can have him out of there.

This is a really hard fight to pick the winner, Moore has the greater experience and has a good punch , but he can be hurt as well.
This is Macklins first real big fight, he's very powerful in the early going and thats when Moore may walk into one, Macklin has so far shown a good chin , but has yet to be really tested over the longer distance, Moore has done 12 rounds and look good against Michael Jones.

So, i can see Macklin getting the job done early, or Moore winning on points, or a late stoppage for either boxer.

Sticking my neck on the line, i'm going for Moore to overcome some dodgy moments before stopping Macklin in the 10th.

Macklin digs well underneath and if he can get to Moore's body it will could be very interesting as I think Moore is a bit prone to getting hurt downstairs.

I agree, and Macklin is a good bodypuncher. I fancy a Macklin stoppage in the middle rounds.

Moore has a good body punch as well, and Macklin hasn't really been tested around that area as a pro, this fight is really about Macklin, we all kind of know Moore's stregths and weaknesses, but there are alot of unkowns about Macklin.

I got some interesting question ideas from a few strands a while back and Stu is to thank for the conversation about the knock-downs in the Jones fight, I still think solid chins mean not going down at all but what do I know :TU:

Macklin's prediction to follow in a few days and I'll see who else I can get in there for the final preview.
I cannot remember saying anything, I've made some horrendous posts in my time - hope it wasn't one of these. Or was it what I said in this thread?

I think Moore is just a bit too fragile and Macklin looks big and strong.

Looking forward to this one...

I cant wait for this fight! This is what boxing is about - a proper 50-50, all to play for, with both fighters bringing a good set of loyal fans. The atmosphere is gonna be electric.

I hope Macklin wins, but if Moore prevails (which I suspect he might) I wont have a problem with that. Both are good, honest young lads - fair credit to the pair of them for making it happen.

Nah mate, it was a good honest back and forth about knock-downs (although it was probably on a wholly unrelated thread), I was saying that going down equals a bad chin and you said that going down but getting up shows a good chin. Funnily enough Jamie concurred with you a few days later when talking about Jones III!

Both men have talked about Duddy also so it will be good to see him in action the next night against Campas :box:
Did I? Alot will depend on the were the punch was landed, and who was the opponent I guess. I don't think I would have ever said Audley Harrison's got a GOOD chin cause he got up vs Williams to last the course.

Tito Trinidad though has a good chin IMO, this was shown in beatings vs Hopkins and Wright (both decent, if not destructive punchers). Juan Manuel Marquez has a good chin also, despite hitting the canvas 3 times in one round vs Pacquiao.

I do think Macklin has the punch to keep Moore down, but I think it will be a wear and tear job mainly though and later than when Jones nearly won.

Macklin to get the job done and bring the title to Brum.

One area Matty is lacking a bit is hand speed IMO - his footwork has improved tremendously and he, thankfully, wont have to go looking for Moore.

His body attack is withering and his fitness is excellent. Moore is gonna have to put a herculean effort in to turn back Macklin - I cant see him producing it to be honest.

Come on the Brummie! :D :TU:

Macklin 'arrives' with a breakthrough win here imo.
It'll be a great fight to watch im sure as i think both will clash head on, but i think the greater speed and ability of macklin will give him the edge and allow him to overcome Moore's greater experience.

Macklin TKO between 4-7

We've yet to see what happens when Macklin in on the recieving end, if he doesn't get Moore out early, then we can see what Macklin is made of, he's got quick hands but will also have to think about defense.
Moore is still just the pick for me, but i wouldn't put money on it.

Fair enough mate I didn;t realise.

Macklin fought his heart out and through such fatigue it was incredible.

He went over on his face and was given medical attention and taken out on a stretcher. He managed to raise his hand and I think speak on the way out.

Hopefully it's just fatigue.......
