RIP. Was all before my time, but have watched the Christie fight on many occasions, a genuine British classic

Sad to hear that.
Reminds me of listening to his fights on Radio 2 with (I think) Des Lynam doing the commentary

Blimey that’s sad, he was only 64. Rest in peace
Re: Mark Kaylor
RIP Mark
I remember all the saga from the 80s. Especially as a West Ham fan.
Only a few years older than me
I think he lived in Orange County of somewhere south of LA. He was involved in a gym & kids football if I remember rightly.

Re: Mark Kaylor
Rip, seen a few of his fights and was great value, the Christie fight was all time British classic
Re: Mark Kaylor
Kaylor, Sibson etc were the reason I got into boxing, RIP to a true warrior.
Re: Mark Kaylor
NO! This is bad news. I was a big Kaylor fan. RIP
Re: Mark Kaylor
Sad to hear this, he always gave his all. RIP
Re: Mark Kaylor
Thats sad to hear. Him and Errol Christies fight was a proper big deal back then with everything that went on.

Sad news R.I.P
Re: Mark Kaylor
Christ...just 64 years old
Bugner, Hatton and now Kaylor.
A good amateur and professional with plenty of bottle.
His tussles with Roy Gumbs and Errol Christie were riveting encounters
RIP Mark

Re: Mark Kaylor
Oh no that’s terrible, I thought Mark was living the life out in California running a gym
I didn’t expect that at all. What happened to him what a warrior he was, the absolute classic against Roy Gumbs, up off the floor in the bedlam at the Ally Pally, fighting back to knock out Gumbs - what a night that was.

Re: Mark Kaylor
You’ll never see a braver fighter than Mark Kaylor. Knocked down something like seven times in a big upset versus buster Drayton, on the same night that Frank Bruno got knocked out in a huge upset.
Another reminder of how these fighters need to be looked after. Apparently Mark had dementia at 62 years old.

Re: Mark Kaylor
That’s terrible news and terrible he was poorly at such a young age. He would have been a big favourite had he been boxing now and made some money. Very popular fighter, I always though a bit odd they didn’t cultivate some kind of wbo title fight vs Eubank in the early days (when they were matching Eubabk against the likes of Gary Stretch)

I heard him interviewed a few years ago, sounded terrible. Very slurred speech.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑17 Nov 2025, 04:24 You’ll never see a braver fighter than Mark Kaylor. I think Kaylor would have been campaigning at a higher weight by then.stujones wrote: ↑17 Nov 2025, 07:33 That’s terrible news and terrible he was poorly at such a young age. Re: Mark Kaylor
RIP. Terrific heart and the fight against Christie is one of the maddest tear-ups (in and out of the ring) I've ever seen.
Re: Mark Kaylor
Bloody hell, that's terrible. It's not even like he was from the era of 100 fights. I think he had less than 50.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑17 Nov 2025, 04:24

Sad to hear. The area where he lived is lovely & he couldn't even enjoy it in his later years. Just a prisoner in his own head.
