He was 16. Not that late. And certainly younger than when Conor's dad took up the sport.

Forget all the drama about the eggs & the Eubank fight and the Zuffa stuff, I still don't think it's that safe for Benn too make 147 right now after not having fought there for several years and weighing in at a solid Middleweight last time out.

He'll be spent after 6 rounds.

Prograis probably will be too.

It's a one fight deal.
That could be a one fight deal for the big fight then they chuck in an extra, smaller contract or within the same contract for another fight before as a warm up if he wanted it. It's possible but I just can't believe they'd pay him that much money for this. UFC fighters must be furious.
It doesn’t work like that. This will have to be the one fight as Matchroom had matching rights in his deal.

Crazy fight for TKO/Turki to pay Benn $15m for.
It's plausible that it was a one fight deal with an option for a warm up within the same contract. Structured like that it seems unlikely that Matchroom could match it. Alternatively, once signed, they could have offered him another fight as an addendum. Third option is that they've grossly overpayed for this because they're not sure if Fury Vs Makhmudov fills the stadium on its own and the Netflix money is big enough to throw around.

Thats not plausible.

Matchroom had to match terms of the deal presen a which is 1 fight and, supposedly, $15m.

The deal can’t then change otherwise Matchroom will be able to sue. They cant offer addendums either.

I agree with your third point. I think Turki has gone all in with Zuffa/TKO and we know $15m isn’t much for them.

Maybe it's $5 million purse and a $5m win bonus and $5m stoppage bonus..

You know that's how Dana rolls.

I have to admit I kind of shook my head when I saw this announcement. But then I think it could be an interesting fight.

Can Benn safely get down to WW? Will he have any pop on his punches? Does Prograis have anything left in the tank? Will Prograis be less of a corpse than Eubank was? Will the last six rounds be two smaller boxers leaning against one another and throwing a punch or two each round?

I think Benn gets the decision, whether he wins the fight or not.

Is it right that this card has no British promoters? If so it’s bizarre that one of the biggest names in boxing (Fury) and a poached Benn (no pun intended) are fighting in the U.K. but no British promoters are involved.

The Fury fight isn't going to fill the stadium, some tickets are 5k each, even without that I'm surprised it hasn't sold more. Turki is making a mistake if he thinks Benn is going to add hugely to the numbers, he's never sold well against anyone not named Eubank. He could fill an arena with a top, top class name, that's about it.

Prograis is shot to pieces. He was wobbled on several occasions in his last fight against Joseph Diaz, a much smaller man who himself was considered shot.

In his prime Prograis would’ve handled Benn easily but his prime is long gone.

This takes Benn back to the Algieri / Van Heerden type of fights - totally washed up smaller men. He may well stop Regis and then disingenuous pundits will favourably compare him to Haney who outclassed but didn’t stop a still decent Regis.

Benn is gonna be weight drained in this bout in all likelihood. I don't look for him to be able to stop Prograis.

He did, but still dropping 2 weight classes is a tough ask on the body.

Why are tickets £5k??

Who are they trying to attract?

Yo be fair, most have those have gone. It's the cheap ones in stadiums that are hard to shift, unless it's a huge fight tat people HAVE to be at.

Because even a 5 year past prime Prograis is going to be too much for Benn- unless he has been paid to take a dive of course.

I think this one fight deal thing has always been a misleading headline.

It’s going to be full of options/clauses around additional fights.
