Why would he raise his right hand? Then get free hits.

Did he not learn anything from Dubois.

Take a knee.

It's all a way of saying no mas , and to be fair he'd taken 10 rounds of punches so if he's had enough that's ok.
I'm always facinated why so many fighters do that. God, you've gone down on your own accord you might as well act like you are hurt for beyond the 10, Sonny Liston vs Ali 2 style - the end of that fight, the actual ending, is the one reason why I think he didn't quit.

It's definitely time for retirement now.
He had a reasonable boxing career.

probably an attempt to salvage some pride. to delude themselves or try to delude others into thinking they were ready to continue and werent legitimately stopped

Better than reasonable, most fighters would kill to achieve what he did

Turned pro late, eat punches for dinner, was never going to be around too long, but the first change fight damaged him, and the 2nd ruined him.

I hope he will be okay, and he’s not like traditional boxers in that he started late and built up an education beforehand. I do though always worry about the mentality of fighters who pride themselves and are hyped around their strength and that “no one can stop them” Once they start to move backward , they are not often the same fighter (unless they completely reinvent themselves) - and seem more likely to struggle outside of the ring. eg Hatton, John Murray.

Joe was hyped as the juggernaut FFS, it’s must be such a shock to him to see him just being man handled and out strengthed.

It was sad to watch that fight. He should never have been put in harm’s way like that. I wonder how much he earned for going all the way over there to take a fearsome beating ? SugarHill will no doubt have trousered a fair proportion of whatever it was and Conlan too.

Joe needs people around him who care about his welfare not a pair of leeches on the make

Joes had a fantastic career by anyone’s standards. To talk shit about him on a little forum shows up the so called ‘fans’. I hope Joyce can now retire in peace and have his health and some wealth to enjoy, he deserves it.

How much more punishment would you have been happy to see him take?
