Yep. :TU:
Are you saying that a past-their-prime fighter, in their mid-thirties, who spent most of his career at super middleweight (for at least 25 fights), resorted to utilizing a sweat suit inside a high-temperature sauna (against the BBBofC's rules), even receiving a $500K fine for failing to make the contracted weight limit for the first bout, while being contractually required (due to a rehydration clause) to weigh less on fight-day than many marquee super welterweights, did not look visibly weight-drained in his second bout against Conor Benn?

He chose to fight at 160 in the previous fights because he was comfortable at the weight. He hadn't fought at 168 since James DeGale, which was SIX years earlier. He was comfortable at the weight, that's why he fought Liam Smith twice at 160 and Liam Williams at 160 and Kamil Szeremeta at 160. He didn't have to fight at 160 for any of those fights, but he did, because he wanted to, because he was comfortable at the weight. But it doesn't matter what I post, you'll just keep arguing that a guy's natural weight is the one he hadn't fought at for six years. Stop being silly.

What I am saying is that you are talking a load of old rubbish by saying Eubank Jr was a Super-Middleweight early on in his career.

Anyone with a brain or ounce of boxing knowledge knows he wasn't & you're making yourself look a bit of a tit by sticking to this claim..

I don't know why you are doing this but I ain't wasting anymore time on you.

So here in Southern California there's various shades of 'Mexican'.

You have people who are born & raised here who you would think had just crossed the border recently but they actually only have one Mexican parent.

Then there are others that you would never guess were any part Mexican but both their parents are immigrants & speak broken English.

I work with the full spectrum.

As far as I know Garcias dad is of Mexican heritage & his mum is white. But lately he's been on a Mexican trip, even placing bets with FW over the England v Mexico game. I doubt he's watched more than 2 games of football but now he's tossing 6 figures on a game.

Anyway, they are known as "No Sabo" Mexicans. Garcia is a No Sabo as he doesn't speak Spanish. Spanish speakers look down on them.

Many SoCal Mexican Americans will be supporting Benn as he's fluent. Which I find hilarious.

Sorry for the lengthy post.

Conor Benn on Ryan Garcia: 'I wanted to punch his head in for sure'

The war of words between Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn, which already feels like it’s been going on for years, is only likely to get louder now the pair have at last agreed to sort it all out in the ring on September 12.

The 27-year-old Garcia, 25-2 (20 KOs), is set to put his WBC welterweight title on the line against the 25-1 (14 KOs) Benn, 27, who is the mandatory challenger at 147lbs despite not fighting in the weight class since April 2022.

Last year, Benn went 1-1 with British rival Chris Eubank Jnr up at middleweight before beating Regis Prograis over the 10-round distance in April to mark the start of his alliance with Zuffa Boxing.

Garcia, meanwhile, beat Mario Barrios in February to win his world belt. It came three years after an unsuccessful bid for the WBA lightweight belt when he was knocked out in seven rounds by Gervonta Davis.

At the weekend Garcia and Benn came together in a fiery press conference in which both shouted and peacocked to such a degree they had to be separated.

"I wanted to punch his head in for sure," said Benn when reflecting on the machismo-fuelled exchange.

"I would have had there and then with him. I'm not worried about nothing with Ryan.

"I ain't scared about nothing. What's there to be scared about?"

"He's a spoiled brat and he carries on like a little child, throwing his toys out of the pram, having social media tantrums. You think I'm worried about him?

"I've just gone up to middleweight and had fight of the year [while losing to Eubank last April]. You think I'm worried about Ryan, a lightweight? Not at all."

Benn admits difficulty making 147 for Garcia fight

Ryan Garcia believes Conor Benn will be dealing with two opponents on September 12.

Brit Benn and American Garcia will square off for the latter's WBC welterweight title on September 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Garcia, however, believes Benn will have trouble making weight.

For the first time in over four years, Benn will cut down to the 147-pound welterweight limit. Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) is convinced that even if Benn does manage to do so, it will ultimately take a toll on his performance.

“He seems like a pretty big guy,” Garcia said on the Mr. Verzace Podcast. “It’s just the fact that he went to 160 and now he’s gonna shoot all the way down to 147. He did it once with Regis [Prograis] at 150, but those three pounds when you’re cutting weight is much more than you think. That may play a part. I want him at his strongest but I’m just saying. I think he’s gonna struggle with making weight. Maybe he won’t, maybe he will.”

Before he beat Prograis on April 11, Benn fought twice at middleweight in back-to-back fights against Chris Eubank Jr., losing the first and winning the second. Before that, Benn fought Peter Dobson at a 151-pound catchweight in 2024 and Rodolfo Orozco at 154 pounds in 2023.

Despite the yo-yoing in weight, Benn has remained steadfast in his pursuit of a welterweight title, particularly the green and gold WBC strap his dad Nigel won at super middleweight in 1992.

However, the Ilford man knows it'll be tough getting to 147, just as Garcia has claimed.

“I've been walking around at 175-180 pounds for the past three years,” Benn told The Ring's CEO Rick Reeno.

“I had six weeks to make 150, I did it. You know why I did it? Because I’m disciplined. Is getting down to 147 gonna be grueling? Is it gonna be tough? Is it gonna be hard? Of course it is but I live for that. I ain’t no softie over here. I work hard, I train hard. The discipline will continue to prevail and that’s why I will make 147 and that’s why I will take that belt home.”

Ryan Garcia sets Zuffa Boxing conditions before potential deal with Dana White

Ryan Garcia won’t be bound by guidelines if he ever signs with Zuffa Boxing.

Garcia is scheduled to put his WBC welterweight title on the line against Zuffa Boxing’s Conor Benn on Sept. 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. While the particulars of the bout are unknown to Garcia, he believes it will be co-promoted. Furthermore, Garcia is certain that he will not be wearing Zuffa fight gear and claims he will never wear a Zuffa uniform even if he signs with the promotion.

Ryan Garcia explains why he would refuse Zuffa Boxing gear while praising Dana White’s new promotion

Garcia explains that he likes to express himself by designing his own outfit and walkout music. He vows to never sign with Zuffa Boxing if they don’t allow him to express himself the way he wants. However, Garcia complimented Dana White for the way he is building up Zuffa Boxing.

“Even if I ever signed with Zuffa, I will make sure that I never wear a Zuffa outfit,” Garcia told Ariel Helwani. “I'm wearing my own outfits, doing my own thing. If you don't like it, then I'll never sign with you. At the end of the day, I love the whole ‘design your outfit, design your walkout.’ I'm not about to be a robot. I don't care how much money you offer me. I just love the whole show of it and I feel like they should let certain fighters do that. I would like to express myself… I think Dana White's doing an amazing job with Zuffa so far... I like how they run the press conferences... I think it's better.”

Zuffa Boxing is White’s venture into the world of pugilism. The Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO wants to bring boxing under a centralized UFC-style model, but is facing fierce competition from traditional boxing promoters like Eddie Hearn.

"If I ever signed with Zuffa, I will make sure that I never wear a Zuffa outfit. I'm wearing my own outfits, doing my own thing.

If you don't like it, then I'll never sign with you... I'm not about to be a robot, I don't care how much money you offer me."

Anyone who knows how White and his bosses work knows that Garcia will not get his own way. It’s also strange he “doesn’t know the particulars of the bout” he’s scheduled to be involved in. He believes it’s “co-promoted” yet also feels that he will be able to write the rules. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this kind of thing admitted by a fighter going into a big fight before.

If I can I will bet on this fight never happening. Seems like it’s just some publicity stunt going by what Garcia is saying.

Ryan Garcia, Conor Benn pulled apart in fiery confrontation as KO promises made

Ryan Garcia has promised to beat Conor Benn in five rounds or less when they clash on Sept. 12 in Las Vegas.

Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) will defend his WBC welterweight title against Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) on a Ring Magazine card, co-promoted by Golden Boy and Zuffa Boxing.

The pair met for the first time since the fight was announced on Saturday at a Zuffa Boxing media day.

They clashed on stage but were kept apart by security, before Garcia gave his prediction for the fight.

"If I let this man beat me, that would be crazy," Garcia said.

"You're going to get knocked out under five [rounds]. Hey, Turki [Alalshikh] ... five rounds is all it's going to take. Thank you for this opportunity. I'm going to knock him out in five or below."

Benn baited Garcia by saying he got handed a world title shot off the back of a defeat to Rolly Romero in 2025.

After losing to Romero, Garcia came back in his next fight to win the WBC title, beating Mario Barrios in February.

Benn has not fought at 147 pounds in four years but is coming off back-to-back wins against Chris Eubank Jr. and Regis Prograis.

"Listen, he's like a big child, a spoilt brat. Throws his toys out the pram on social media, throwing little tantrums," Benn said.

"I'm not really too concerned about this little influencer to my right. He ain't a fighter. He can say whatever he wants, it ain't going to make no difference come Sept. 12.

"I don't quit. I don't stay down on one knee."

Garcia's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, was not present at the news conference while Zuffa Boxing's Dana White was front and center.

The two promoters have gone back and forth in the media in recent months, particularly over the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act, which De La Hoya opposes and White is in favor of.

Asked what role De la Hoya will have in the fight, Garcia's team said Golden Boy are "partners" with Ryan Garcia Promotions.

Oscar De La Hoya mends fences with Ryan Garcia, again warns about 'trojan horse' Zuffa Boxing

All-time-great fighter turned promoter and Chairman/CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya, set the record straight today about his recently repaired relationship with WBC lightweight champion Ryan Garcia, and reiterated his intense dislike and distrust of Dana White and Zuffa Boxing.

Responding to Garcia’s disappointment with remarks he made earlier this month (that Garcia’s September 12 matchup against Conor Benn is a fight that, “nobody is asking for,” and that a Garcia-Devin Haney rematch would have been a better fight to put together), De La Hoya says he met with Garcia recently and patched things up.

“Everything is great,” said De La Hoya of his relationship with Garcia. “We're going to make sure that this event is big… and that Ryan is treated the way he deserves… I believe the other day, Turki Alalshikh said that six plus million dollars have already been sold. So yeah, it's going to be a big event. I’m really looking forward to being part of it… It reminds me of when I promoted Floyd Mayweather versus Ricky Hatton back in the day. We had about 60,000 Brits who flew over to participate in the activities and it was such a special event. I kind of have that feeling now. I think about 20,000 will come over and want to support their very own in Conor Benn.

“He (Garcia) called for a sit-down conversation, which I gladly accepted,” De La Hoya recalled of the meeting. “I mean, he's a Golden Boy fighter. So, we just worked things out once again… I want to make sure this fight is the biggest it can be, and I want to make sure that Ryan is clearheaded enough to go out there and knock out Conor Benn.”

De La Hoya says he explained to Garcia why he previously said a Haney fight would have been a better choice.

“I just feel like the Haney fight is better,” De La Hoya admitted to Ariel Helwani. “There's a lot of controversy and a lot of animosity with the father and Devin Haney. I've always wanted the Haney fight because I know that's the better fight. That's the fight where you'll see more drama, more action. I mean, imagine the intensity when that first bell rings… That's all I said.”

While the promoter’s turbulent relationship with Garcia appears to be positive again, his opinion of Dana White and Zuffa Boxing remains firmly rooted in the negative. Things between the two parties were only further exacerbated when De La Hoya was completely shut out of a recent press conference for Garcia-Benn held at Fanatics Fest in New York City,

“How petty are these guys not to include me and not to make sure I’m on stage?” asked De La Hoya. “Are they afraid that I’m going to sock Dana in the nose? I mean, of course I’m going to be there. Of course I’m going to be front and center promoting Ryan Garcia. Everybody knows he's my fighter. He's the golden boy… That's what these people do. They tried to slip one by me. I really do believe they are trying to keep me away from Dana because they know what's going to happen.

These guys are the trojan horse... Just watch out. Trust me. Watch out. Because they are the trojan horse and the rest is history from there. They're (Zuffa) offering these guys a lot of money for one-fight, two-, five-, three-fight deals just to lure everybody in and just to let everybody know, oh my gosh, look at what we're doing. We're paying all this money. But, long-term, they're going to change the contracts up. They're going to lure you in just like the trojan horse. That's the bottom line and that's exactly what happened with Shakur Stevenson. He went for the big money. And it's a shame because we at DAZN, with all the promoters, have all the opponents. So, I don't understand what they're doing. I don't understand why they're separating themselves from the rest of the boxing world.”

De La Hoya also says he’s unimpressed with Zuffa Boxing’s first nine broadcasts.

“It's just like another regular show,” he said. “There's nothing different. It’s a normal regular production that we all have seen over the years. The ridiculous part is the announcers. I mean, every little shot, every little graze, every little punch that's thrown, they're like it's the biggest thing in the world. I mean, come on guys, I know exactly what you're trying to do. It’s UFC 2.0 all over again.

"I really do feel that Zuffa is just wishy-washy, going back and forth. Oh, we're going to work with the organizations. Oh, we're not. We're going to work with other promoters. Oh, we're not. Make up your mind. You know? I don't know what you're doing. I mean, you put on an event yesterday, which I saw on Paramount, which by the way, Paramount has to be really angry at what they're doing and their ratings because the shows they're putting on, like Berlanga with this journeyman, uh, who, by the way, was a great fighter eight years ago. It's like, I don't know what I’m watching. They promised one thing and I’m watching another.”

This would have been on Sky Sports in the UK.

It’s on Paramount+ in the US.

Garcia still under GBP, so I’m guessing that’s why they allowed DAZN to broadcast it too.
