Marco Huck

Post by steve689 »

Was just watching the farce that is Marco Huck V Pietro Aurino and it reminded me briefly what a talent Huck could be. The kid has some serious potential in my eyes, especially considering our recent Haye/Macarinelli debate, Huck is a European Crusierweight who could go places.

Aurino was a good step up and it was a shame it ended in that debacle but in his previous fight with game Frenchman Rachid El Hadak Huck showed consistent improvements. El Hadak to his credit came to fight and showed a reasonable defence and offered plenty of ambition but Huck impressed me the way he moved into range and gave a feint then when his man led off he stepped back and then countered with some vicious shots. Huck loves teeing off on a sitting target and every shot is thrown with KO intentions.

I was first alerted to his potential when he beat Rudiger May in a crossroads battle, May was experienced yet Huck paced himself well and won handily over 10 (i saw only highlights though) and then scored a good win over Michael Simms. Since then i have seen his bouts with Rasco, Lee Swaby, Nuri Seferi and then El Hadak and Aurino and he is maturing into a very good fighter.

Any thoughts on "Captain Huck" :TU:

I've got 2 or 3 of his fights somewhere, I might have a look at him as I'm always into who's who at cruiserweight.

Well the Aurino fight did remind me of his potential but maybe my words flattered him a little in that fight in so much as the fight was definately brewing up nicely at the time it finished. Aurino was giving Huck plenty of style problems with his Southpaw stance and Huck was caught more than once. His reply as usual were frenzied bursts of punches but the Italian showed experience to weather any potential storms.

In the actual incident Aurino did indeed headbutt Huck after the two had got themselves tangled on the ropes and traded illegal blows with the ref sandwiched in the middle. In defence of Aurino, Huck did kick him as the Italian's management suggested vehemently afterwards.

Huck has proven before to be a dirty fighter who lacks sportsmanship, in the fight with lee Swaby Swaby extended his hand to Huck after an indescretion and Huck saw this as an opportunity to drive in a right hand. He did the same thing to Aurino after a head clash. It's shit and he should be told better about this underhand tactic.

Anyway the German crowd were clearly getting restless with their cries of "Boxen" after a lengthy interval which resulted in Aurino being disqualified for leaving the ring (after a two point deduction for head butting). During the melee Aurino was doing a cut throat gesture across the ring at the 22 year old Huck who was either taking it in his stride or intimidated, i suspect the latter. Shame it was't allowed to continue, it would have been some war after all that IMO :box:

I see that Huck, according to fightnews, is going in with Ismail Abdoul next. Is an Abdoul fight compulsory for all European cruiserweights with a punch? Seems to be. I'll go out on a limb and predict that Huck will dominate Abdoul, who will do fornicate all in the fight other than try and last the course. Bold guess, I know. :D

Huck looks a bit raw at the moment. I'm not excited about him yet, but these German based fighers do get good tuition and do surprise a lot of ppl when they get fights for major titles.

I must confess I've never seen Huck fight. Is he a decent addition to an interesting mix of European 200lb'ers? Or is he far too raw at the moment to be considered alongside the likes of Haye, Enzo, Wlodarczyk? I only ask because neither Haye nor "world champion" Maccarinelli can be considered the finished article at the moment, much as I like watching the pair of them. With so many cruiserweights packing a potentially fight-ending punch, and with it being such a traditionally dire division I do tend to think the gap between pretender and contender is smaller there than anywhere elae.

Seen the Aurino fight also. I think it should have been a case of common sense prevailing over the rules. Aurino was only out of the ring for 30 seconds max. The ref should have let the fight continue.... I am sure Aurino (who WAS harshly treated by the ref) would have fought on with the 2 point deduction after his outburst.

To be fair to the ref, I don't think he saw the Huck kick - Huck looks the part but that for me showed his natural instinct. I think he has shown a huge weakness. If I was coaching his next opponent I would be encouraging him to rough him up and look for a DQ win.

Cannot fault his progress, for me he is going to be a long time World champion if he can overcome this kicking instinct.

Huck is a former kickboxer apparently stu but as i have said before his temperament and sportsmanship are both areas open to question. Did you agree the fight was shaping up nicely and Aurino was having some good success before the DQ?

Just call me Nostradamus. Or just call Abdoul predictable. From fightnews:

"EU cruiserweight champion Marco "Kapt'n" Huck (18-0, 14 KOs) took a one-sided twelve round unanimous decision over Ismail Abdoul (28-11-2, 8 KOs), who seemed to be in survival mode for much of the fight. Scores were 118-110 across the board."

Actually quite surprised that Huck didn't have 120-108 accross the board. Abdul won 2 rounds, thats a bit surprising..... he didn't come close to winning a round vs Enzo and Haye.

Mind you, as Huck is EU champ, I wouldn't say no to a Haye-Huck fight. As I said, I've never seen Huck fight, but he apparently has a decent enough dig on him. With Haye being backed up by non-punchers recently, it could be interesting.

If Marco can take a world class dig, I would favour him.

I'll have to get some tapes of Huck before I make a judgment, but I do think Haye is heading for a fall sooner rather than later. I don't think he carries enough power to get the top cruiserweights out of there in the first 4 rounds, and he looks very shaky once the fight goes longer than that. I stand by my view that Maccarinelli would blast Haye out.

Haye-Huck would be a good fight, ia gree it all depends on Huck's resistance which is as yet untested. His spiteful flurries would give Haye plenty of trouble IMO

I see fightnews are reporting that Huck-Tokarev is on for later in the year, as an IBf eliminator. Could be a good one.

I don't think Huck's ready. Tokarev looks far too tough and well rounded.

My only gripe is that Cunningham gets a rematch with Wlod. Cunny was dreadfully poor and I'm off his bandwagon.
