No disrespect but shouldnt this be in the Past Fighters forum? Tyson's retired and Holyfield is in his 4's and prolly wont ever have another chance at a title shot, and since this is a hypothetical match up...it really doesnt fit well in fighters of the present.

Just my two cents. But as far as the 'winner', I think Holyfield beats Tyson every time. He wasn't afraid of Mike and had all the tools and toughness and heart to stand up to Mike. Holyfield would have beaten Mike Tyson 100 out of 100 times.

Although I agree Holyfield wins, it would be more like 75 out of 100.

Holy all the way. Tyson's mental fragility was always there to be exposed.

Holy most definitly. I mean Tyson was a decent champion who got HUGE popularity because he did what the public wanted; which was he often knocked guys the fornicate out.

Holyfield was too determined to lose to Tyson in his prime, Tyson never won a fight against anybody who gave him a challenge. Tyson either won easily, or he lost. (not counting Frans Botha's sorry ass).

Tyson also didn't have the size advantage needed to beat Holyfield. In Holyfields prime he only had trouble with guys who were a hell of a lot bigger then him (Lennox Lewis, Riddick Bowe)

No HW in history would have lasted against Iron Mike of the late 80's.

Tyson KO 6.

Agreed Holyfield was a legend, but prime v prime there is only one outcome.........Big KO.

Also, Cus D'Amato was Tyson best trainer.

For what it's worth: The Tyson of 88, beats Ali, Marciano, Louis, Lewis, Johnson and Dempsey.

In terms of career, Tyson is below Holyfield and on the same level as Liston.

I've always thought the prime version of Tyson would have been too quick for Holyfield. Tyson was never the same fighter after losing to Douglas and going to jail, he was still quick, but could only fight with intensity for a few rounds before going off the boil.

Tyson gets to Holyfield early and keeps him on the end of his punches to bash him up inside of 8 rounds.

Tyson's peak was brief and intense, but I honestly believe that the prime Tyson was a threat to any heavyweight in history over the first 4 rounds, Ali, Holmes, Foreman, Liston would have all overcome the early storm to win, but might have had to have got off their arse to do so.

I still take Holyfield, people forget Holyfield was not in his prime when he and Tyson fought either.

As far as Tyson knocking him out who did Tyson ever KO who was a durable and determined as a prime Holyfield?

Peak Holy would have reached right in and ripped Tyson's heart out just like he did when he was washed up after the Bowe fights. Once Evander gets through those early rounds and begins to turn the tide it's all over.

Well Cruiser was probably his best weight, but his best days at HW IMO were around the 91 and the Foreman fight when he was still an absolute monster throwing those two handed combos. Don't forget Tyson was a big favorite for the fight partly because people though Holyfield was past it.
