Kevin Anderson vs Ali Nuumbembe
Anderson is far to good for Ali and will eventually break him down and knock him out.

Another decent fight this.
Ali looks to have enough ability to box Anderson, but Anderson is strong, solid and tough - Not only that, he is a decent boxer himself.
The odds look stacked against the silent assassin, even more so after the heart breaking loss to firecracker Olusegun, where Ali looked well out of sorts. The nature of this loss has raised quite a few questions regarding Ali, and this fight will prove whether it was just a blip or indeed he is on the slide.
It all points to a win for 'Ando', but I am going for it via the long haul with Anderson taking a comfortable decison.

I think that Nuumbembe has enough about him to at least stay with Anderson, but I can't picture how he can win this one.
I can see Anderson's strength and edge in power being the big factors in the fight, and while Ali will be game and may present some early stylistic problems for the champion, I think he'll get worn down and either stopped late on, or edged out reasonably comfortably on points.

Close fight in my opinion. Ali is better than Okine in my opinion and his fight with Anderson could have gone either way, again imo. But I was very impressed at the way he came back against Mutley, especially after that really heavy knockdown, he is improving all the time. Should be a good clash of styles and they both seem hungry fighters, Ali to pick up some early rounds with his counterpunching but Anderson to pull away down the strech to win by a couple.
Also good on Anderson, 19 fights, 23 years old and he's taken on the likes of Nuumbembe, Mutley, Okine and Dickson.

My worry for Ali is that he fights at his pace. I think if he would have pressed the action a bit more he would have put the Barnes result beyond doubt (I had him a comfortablish winner). I'm not sure what he is like when under serious pressure and I'm not sure Ali hits hard enough to dent Kevin.
However, its quite interestingly poised cause I was so surprised with how Mutley was dealing with him before he gassed.

No Way is Nuumbembe better than OkineLenny Albert wrote:Close fight in my opinion. Ali is better than Okine in my opinion and his fight with Anderson could have gone either way, again imo. Ali took the Barnes fight at late notice and the only reason he didn't win big was he faded down the streach which could be excused.
Barnes I don't think looked right in the Okine fight. I know it's a cop out excuse but that's what I felt watching it. I reckon Ali is the better boxer.
I just feel Anderson brings a bit too much heat but I would be very surprised if he finishes him in 6 rounds. Anderson is not Olusegun

Aye you right there, Anderson is no Olusgen, he's better than him as well
By your own admission Ali only had a couple of weeks, or was it a week, a day, fornicate it the time is getting shorter everytime someone gives me that excuse. He got pumped, end of, if he wasnt ready he shouldnt have taken the fight, so it shows what a dafty he is. Same goes for the Barnes fight, not ready dont fight. If your really going to go into a fight thinking you can win, it sounds a lot of pish when you come out with "I wasn't ready, they only called me at lunchtime" patter. If you think you can cut the mustard at the top level you aint going to take a fight at short notice if you have any kind of brain power
Ali shouldn't have taken Olusguen fight i'll give you that one, it was far too big a risk and as he's handlers have come out and said it was he who wanted to fight he really doesn't have any excuses. Especially as he had this fight with Anderson on the horizon, fighting Olusguen as a warm up was a terrible idea. Fair play to Kevin for still fighting him.
Before Barnes, how many people had heard of Ali Nuumbembe? He came in and outboxed Barnes and got himself known. I was just giving an opinion as to why he faded down the streach and didn't beat Barnes by a big enough margin to win the fight.

I'm of the opinion that some of these fighters out there are a little too muscley, and hence are fucked after 5-6 rounds, Nuumbembe is fairly muscular hence he will fade hopefully
It will be a good one anyway. And big ups for Anderson taking him on, he wants to win titles, aint scared of anyone, and wants to prove he is the best, go on Ando!
Yeah, of course, because fighters like Ali have plenty of money to put food on their tables and pay their bills dont they. Ali took the fights because the man has to make a living. He isnt getting paid thousands and thousands to fight the likes of Ernie Smith, and he doesnt have family or parents in this country to house him and / or support him. Its all very well calling him a "dafty" for taking the fight, but im sure he'd rather be a dafty with a roof over his head and food on his table, than a dafty with nothing.Top Dog wrote: By your own admission Ali only had a couple of weeks, or was it a week, a day, eff it the time is getting shorter everytime someone gives me that excuse. I understand that, but looking at the bigger picture it was a big mistake. If he really has big title aspirations, he shouldnt fight unless he is ready cause you just get moved down the ladder again.Wales wrote:Yeah, of course, because fighters like Ali have plenty of money to put food on their tables and pay their bills dont they. Just to make it clear, Ando is BETTER than Olusgen IMO, not the other way around. My last post wasnt that clear. fornicate it, Ando for President as wellTop Dog wrote:Aye you right there, Anderson is no Olusgen, he's better than him as wellBy your own admission Ali only had a couple of weeks, or was it a week, a day, eff it the time is getting shorter everytime someone gives me that excuse. How was it a big mistake? Would he have got this shot any quicker had he won?Top Dog wrote:I understand that, but looking at the bigger picture it was a big mistake. It hasnt hindered his career thus far, and highlights the current British culture of keeping a fighters record intact, or as intact as possible. Its feasible Ali learnt something from the fight, or has become more motivated as a result by not falling into the "I'll beat anyone category".
It didnt move him down the commonwealth ladder, and his managment team would be the biggest dafties of all if they thought Ali was good enough for proper World honours. And he isnt eligable to fight for either the british or euro titles.
I respect Ali for taking the Olusegun job on, the guy just wanted work and got in at short notice and was KO'd by a better guy on the night. As for Okine-Barnes i think Barnes had something missing that night as well, he was comfortable until Okine dropped him and then he went to pieces. Barnes was the more skilled fighter and with a bit more discipline and mental toughness he would have outboxed the African IMO.
well said, ali needed the fight financially im sure, obviosly he and his camp underestimated olugsuen, but ali felt like he could do a job even at short notice,it didn't pay off but luckily for him he's got his chance now.anderson is a tall order, but kevins come forward style will suit ali's very fast counter punching ,andersons defence is a little leaky and im sure if ali has trained in his usual relentless way and made the weight with no worries,he can cause a big upset.either way this is no easy fight for both guysWales wrote:Yeah, of course, because fighters like Ali have plenty of money to put food on their tables and pay their bills dont they. Getting ahead of myself here - especially since Kevin will most probably might Magee after Nuumbembe - but what do you reckon to these guys who contest the vacant WBU title next month? (with Gilmour for one mentioning the European title as the next step)
