Bonecrusher Smith-update
Unlike Mr Lewis, Bruno actually had a very good chin. All those shots he took from Bonecrusher, about 7 or 8 hooks landing flushed finally floored Bruno.....and Frank STILL got up! Bruno also took the best Witherspoon had to offer before finally scummbling, but Witherspoon didnt get off so lightly either and took some clean shots from Big Frank.icejack wrote:Alwya loved Bonecrusher! was there the night in came from behind to beat Bruno, when that big punch landed ,from my position right at the back you could see the sweat fly of Franks head,it was sickening to see Frank just standing there as Smith tee'ed off.Good fighter!
Bruno, Cooper and Bugner are the three best British HW's from the 60's to the present.

Lewis is as British as I am Nepalese. The man fought for Canada in the 88 Olympics.overhand_right wrote:No one takes you remotely seriously when you so obviously have an axe to grind.RazorKO wrote: Bruno, Cooper and Bugner are the three best British HW's from the 60's to the present.
Bruno, Cooper, Bugner, combined world title fight record: 1-6
Lewis: 16-2

Leave razor alone, this website would be a lot duller if it wasn't for his bullies should get the death penalty, Gerrie Coetzee is a top 20 heavy of all time, George Bush can do no wrong and all European football fans are holligans and the sport should be banned theorys to go along with the many Lennox Lewis ones

Bruno on the other hand had a good chin, but poor stamina and survival instincts.
He couldnt tie his opponent up
You have to be more than a "math" person to deal with boxing, overhand.overhand_right wrote:No one takes you remotely seriously when you so obviously have an axe to grind.RazorKO wrote: Bruno, Cooper and Bugner are the three best British HW's from the 60's to the present.

Your "mathematical" calculation
left out ONE SMALL FACTOR ------
the quality of the opponent.
Good luck with your attempts to apply "math" to boxing, though.

Bugner no Pom
Yere and of course "hungarian - Pommy - Aussie" Joe Bugner is as British as they come.
Lewis could be KO'd and was... But glass-jawed??? I'm not so sure. Lewis got untidy when hurt and he didn't seem to have great recuperative powers but he didn't get dropped that much in his career. He also took some mighty right hands off Klitschko (who had height, weight, reach and a punch).
As far as the champions go Lewis had one of the weaker chins but some talk as if the breeze of a butterfly's wings would knock him over.

Agreed. His chin wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad either. Look at who he fought, and he was only dropped twice.Ezzard wrote:Lewis could be KO'd and was... But glass-jawed??? I'm not so sure. I agree Brunos chin wasn't as bad as many think. But Lennox Lewis, come on he was hardly chinny !!KO Artist wrote:NO but LENNOX Lewis was very chinny. The Great John L wrote:Was Carl Lewis a bit chinny?RazorKO wrote:Unlike Mr Lewis, Bruno actually had a very good chin. Look at the big punchers Lewis fought, Tua, Tyson, Bruno, Mason, Ruddock, Morrison, Mercer, Briggs, Klitscko, Weaver and others. If he was a chinny as you say he was he would have been floored or stopped many more times than he was.
Lewis was stopped by two big punching fighters, 16.7 stone McCall with 22kos in 29 wins and 17 stone Rahman with 29kos in 34 wins. Any fighter taking clean shots from big punching fighters like that can be ko'ed. Lewis did all he could do, he stopped them both in the rematches.
Rememebr Joe Louis was clean KO'ed, dropped, staggered and hurt in several fights so is he 'chinny' as well. Was Mike Tyson 'chinny' every loss he had was by stoppage?
Lewis was a great fighter, chinny isn't a word I associate with him.
exactly.. Lewis had a good chin. After the McCall KO he even got up and COULD have continued. Bruno's chin was lot worse.Controversial wrote:I agree Brunos chin wasn't as bad as many think. Personally I don't think Bruno had a bad chin either. He was clearly beating Bonecrusher Smith until the last round. Even then Smith caught him with several clean big punches to the chin before Bruno went down.cultus wrote:exactly.. Lewis had a good chin. After the McCall KO he even got up and COULD have continued. I remember bruno taking a huge right hand off Jumbo Cummings and doing a silly dance but he survived and i think he stopped Cummings in the next round. Cummings was a big puncher.
Then of course theres Brunos fights with Tyson. After getting dropped in the first few seconds he got up and took huge Tyson punches until the 5th. Tyson battered him against the ropes but couldn't put him down.
Brunos problem was he didn't know how to tie fighters up when he was hurt, he would just stand there and take the blows.
