But he's still a kid though... and unlike Khan he's not going around saying he'll be world champion in a year!... I'd also say that his opposition has been better and he fights people of his own weight unlike Khan who feasts on feathers and superfeathers!...steve689 wrote:Chavez Jnr has a seriously padded record in my opinion, he is like 30-0-1 and not one hint of a step up. I'm not quabbling over the reasons for this but on face value he has been protected thus far.
Khan to fight willie limond
But Armour was an honest and gutsy domestic champion who didnt go around shooting his mouth off saying that he was better than everyone else... theres no shame in losing to a world class fighter like Armour did... the shame is building yourself up as the best in your weight and future world champ etc and then fighting guys from lower divisions who cant break an egg!...DavidPayne wrote:Anyone remember when Johnny Armour 'stepped up'.
Lasted four rounds I think.
Well he's older than Khan and has 2 years more pro experience. Comparing Khan and Chavez's first 12 opponents is a no-go and if you looked through Chavez's list of opp you'll find he has fought many feathers/lightweights himself.silkov wrote:But he's still a kid though... and unlike Khan he's not going around saying he'll be world champion in a year!... I think the main issue here is the fact that Khan gets put out there in the limelight so people over scrutinize his record..
I've seen quite a few of Chavezs fights and his opposition has been better than Amirs generally..... Chavez also had a much shorter Amutuer career than Khan as well... but the main point for me is that Chavez isnt going around saying he's going to be champ in a year and isnt calling other fighters out and then ducking them when his bluff is called....lvlarc wrote:Well he's older than Khan and has 2 years more pro experience. I think thats a bit unfair to Limond who is an honest pro' and a good boxer. Is he a proper test for Khan? well that's up for dabate, but Limond IS a live body.overhand_right wrote:Talking about Khan is really boring now im done discussing him until he fights a live body.
And by far the best fighter Khan has fought as a professional.

Who gives a sh#t about records? Does that mean you were impressed with Audley taking on Tomas Bonin 26-0 and Richel Hersisia 21-0?
This Limmond fella, the 1 guy he fought stopped him, the 28 guys he beat we've never heard of.
Any guy with no power Khans juts going to steamroller them, and pitty pat "blazing handspeed" them to a ref-assisted PR stoppage.

Since when does a puncher need to test Khan other than chin?overhand_right wrote:Cant get motivated for this one at all. Another boring predictable fight with a non-puncher that wont test Khan and will gift him a trinket. Talking about Khan is really boring now im done discussing him until he fights a live body.
I think he means there are more ways to test a fighter other than just the chin. The thing is Khan needs to go in with a puncher of sorts imo so he doesn't think he can go in windmilling those punches and leaving his chin open. He'll learn a lot more from fighting someone with power he'll have to respect
