Yet again, a great scoop for the forum, not too sure where this place would be with out you Bennie.
Good detective work Bennie.
I for one am Happy with this match, its a decent match up and hopefully a start of bigger a better things.
Having seen Camacho Jnr a few times on Eurosport, the fact that Weiss beat him shows he has ability.
Yet again Hatton follows the hard fight, easy fight, hard fight, easy fight pattern. Lets hope we this signals the start of a new pattern (as promised by Warren, Graham and Hatton) of Hard fight, Hard fight, Hard fight.
Good Fight, well done Sports Network and thanks Bennie.
If this clashes with Hide vs Williams I'll be watching this one. Give me World class fighters over the excitiment of domestic class anyday.
Happy.
Real Deal - lets hope Witter goes the WBO route (I still can't see Judah wanting this belt for much longer). Maybe we can have an all British "World" title match up in 2004. Its the only way Witter will get a second chance in the US.

Wow man, that is an Exclusive.
Good work bennie.
Btw, Hatton is in this Month Muscle + Fitness Magazine.
His training regime is in there (the stuff we all know e.g. the 15 rounder and Grahams body pad etc).
The article also explains how BG's late brother was a bodybuilder and how BG himself regards weight training an important part of his fighter's regime.
Hatton benches 160 lbs. Pretty good, but can anyone remember how much Koysta Tzu benches...around 220 isn't it? I recall it was a phenominal amount (for his size).

I was pretty certain it would be Weis anyway. It was the first name Ricky mentioned in his interview on saturday night and allegedly wasn't slow in explaining why Tackie and Leija looked highly doubtful for the december date.
My only hope now is that Weis pulls out and Witter is brought in at the last minute after having trained like mad just incase.![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

160lbs is piss poor for a professional athlete like Hatton. I weigh little more than Hatton and bench way more than that. Do you mean 160KG?Priff wrote:

In fact, I balance 160lbs on the end of my knob as part of my warm-up.

Back to the fight, I've had some e-mails from American's when I told them of this fight. Now these guys know their stuff and are suprised that this match up is made. They were very complimentary of Weiss' skills and only hope that FW is not up to his alledged 'David Telesco' tricks again. They said this is Hatton's toughest assignment and 1 (who does respect Hatton's skills - I haven't come across anyone who labels a Bum yet) actually picked Weiss. The other 2 guys were sitting on the fence.
I was told that style wise Weiss is all wrong for Hatton, he can move and he's awkard. A better version of Phillips, without the big punch. They said his low boxrec ranking isn't a fair reflection of his ability.
This fight IS good and again (hoping of course Bennie is correct) I feel Sports Network should be congratulated on this match up.
For me out of the 4 names touted its the hardest match up. Tackie and Leija are still could but clearly past their prime and Witter is still a reletive unkown at world level. I'm not saying Witter won't beat Hatton, but Weiss is a proven fighter with a bit more to offer than Tackie or Leija.
hatton is underrated by most americans, so they will be shocked, stujones wrote:I have known them for some time - and their not often wrong.REAL_DEAL wrote:so it will be

hatton vs Weis
ref mickey vann or ian john lewis
i agree this is hatton toughest test, i have only seen weis once (judah)
if stu jones mates are right than should be a close and great fight,
IF Hatton wins.
I would be mildly surprised, but not shocked.
I hole-heartily agree wit Stu and his friends, so no need to get into it.
Ricky’s press & punch wide open style plus the tendency to cut will be his eventual downfall.
His style does not make for a long career so he’s got to get on.
I credit Showtime for pressuring Frank to produce a real step up.
IMO, Weis was robbed in he Diaz, Silva, Vilches & Oliviera Fights
So his only clear defeats were to Judah & Ortiz.
Weis’ defeat to Ortiz was on a corner retirement because of a cut over his right eye.
It was opened by a straight right in the 5th rd.
He was down in the 7th which was the only knockdown of the fight.
He’s very crafty & puts out a good work rate.
He’s a step up… but still not at championship level.
This is the first 50/50 fight for Hatton;
If he wins it, his stature has raised in my eyes.
The next fight should be at the top level, no more excuses.

Ricky Hatton
allegedly strikes again ! Omar Weis - give me a break ! Nice Christmas present for Hatton though, he'll stop this character within three rounds. It must be said though there comes a time when Ricky has to stand up and put an end to this nonsense, he's an intelligent lad and surely he can see that his career is now going in reverse.
Warren has no long term plan for the Hitman, other than the drip feed to his own bank account, and he certainly doesn't give a toss if Hatton reaches the top of the tree or not. Any promoter who is willing to put on Witter against Fred Kinuthia, a "boxer" who many of my novice juniors would have beaten easily, has absolutely no interest in the sport of boxing other than how much he can make. Yes i know they are all in that boat but lately allegedly has been stretching the boundaries of reason.

Like I said in my other post these guys rate Hatton, the Phillips fight convinced them that he's up there in the world class bracket, but (according to these guys) so is Weiss. This is a tough fight for Ricky.

Thanks Mr Kilburn, I somehow managed to pick the right round 3 times in one nightKilburn wrote:By the way MW congrats for your prediction league effort last week, shouldn't be too difficult for you to keep the top spot with 1 round remaining - so long as you remember to pick Chi over Brodie!
But I could come unstuck at the final hurdle, I'm leaning towards Brodie
I feel it should be pointed out that Mighty Warrior is simply acting as a front man for me.MightyWarrior wrote:Thanks Mr Kilburn, I somehow managed to pick the right round 3 times in one nightKilburn wrote:By the way MW congrats for your prediction league effort last week, shouldn't be too difficult for you to keep the top spot with 1 round remaining - so long as you remember to pick Chi over Brodie!![]()

I always read your previews on Friday bennie - note who you've picked, then put money on the other guy - never fails!bennie wrote:I feel it should be pointed out that Mighty Warrior is simply acting as a front man for me.MightyWarrior wrote:Thanks Mr Kilburn, I somehow managed to pick the right round 3 times in one nightKilburn wrote:By the way MW congrats for your prediction league effort last week, shouldn't be too difficult for you to keep the top spot with 1 round remaining - so long as you remember to pick Chi over Brodie!![]()

It's great to see one of the "Big Three" title fights in the UK for a change, instead of the usual bargain basement WBU titles we're served up.bennie wrote: That hurts! How do you see the Brodie-In Jin Chi fight going, MW?
It's defintely a tough fight for both of them - looks about 50/50.
Chi is obviously durable so will likely be there for 12 rounds, and Brodie marks up so easily...
The Korean has a strange record: you've got Morales mixed in with boxers who've only had 2 fights.
But with a home crowd roaring him on, and hoping his eyes don't swell up,
I'd go with Brodie to take a close points win.
That's what I'm thinking today anyway. What do you reckon?
If Brodie's chin hold out, I'll go for him to nick a tough one. Looking forward to this fight. A proper world title fight. This weekend we get Tony Oakey defending his WBU light-heavyweight title against an opponent yet to be selected. And we have to regard that as a 'world' title fight.MightyWarrior wrote:It's great to see one of the "Big Three" title fights in the UK for a change, instead of the usual bargain basement WBU titles we're served up.bennie wrote: That hurts! How do you see the Brodie-In Jin Chi fight going, MW?

Yep the Oakey fight is one I'll defintely be giving a miss.bennie wrote: If Brodie's chin hold out, I'll go for him to nick a tough one. Looking forward to this fight. A proper world title fight. And you're right the Brodie chin is a bit vunerable sometimes, not sure the Korean's a big puncher or not. Not a fight you'd pick with great confidence either way.
Jack Trickett must be having a few sleepless nights.
