Eastern Trials - Cocoa Beach, Florida
Disappointing 120 boxers and the hotel is 30 minutes away from the venue. Todays program consists of 2 bouts in one ring and 3 bouts in the second ring. Hope this isn't the precursor for the Western Trials. Kinda tells me that we don't need 3 regional trials (Mid, East & Western).

The turnout would have been better under the old Olympic Trials selection procedures. Many boxers don't want to go the the regional trials, then the US Championships a few weeks later and then still have to make it to the quarter-finals to get to the Olympic Trials.boxmel wrote:Disappointing 120 boxers and the hotel is 30 minutes away from the venue. Cocoa not Cocoa Beach
I plan to head down Wednesday night as the venue is about 10 miles from my house. I have read a few places that it is in Cocoa Beach but it is actually in Cocoa which is two towns over (Merritt Island where I grew up is between the two cities).
A few local fighters are expected to do well (Richard Grant,Robert Ramos and Robert Elegele).
