Olusegun aint world class but he does have some moves, he would slaughter Khany The Fanny. Aint going to happen of course, cause Frank would have a heart attack at the thought.
Olusegun v Khan
Olusegun v Khan
Man, I would love to see Olusegun go in with Khan, he would hammer the wee pretender. Before someone comes on and says "but Khan is only a lightweight" my answer to that is, now he knows what it feels like to fight someone heavier

Let's not get carried away with Olusegun fellas. He beat ON POINTS Gary Reid that's all for a vacant Commonwealth title. Reid was soundly beaten by Nigel Wright remember so it's hardly an earth shattering display is it?
Khan would beat him IMO and Khan would play with and humiliate Reid.
I think Sky's 'commentary' is starting to get to you lot.
Adam Smith can certainly polish a turd.

I agree that Adam Smith's knowledge of boxing is very limited.boxingchat wrote:Let's not get carried away with Olusegun fellas. He beat ON POINTS Gary Reid that's all for a vacant Commonwealth title. Reid was soundly beaten by Nigel Wright remember so it's hardly an earth shattering display is it?

So you are saying that SN would be keen to match Khan v Reid or Olusegun?
I think they would both be good fights for Amir's development.

Dean Powell would have a function if he heard you were putting these sorts of fights forward for the SN golden goose!boxingchat wrote:Let's not get carried away with Olusegun fellas. The SN match making thus far does not reflect your confident swager.
Olusegun would be far too seasoned for Khan at this stage - can you not see that??

Yes, whilst Reid is hardly Oscar DeLaHoya, the fact that he managed to give Olesogun a few problems, shouldn't be overstated.
Admittedly, I think Olegsogun looked a bit ordinary at times, but I don't see Khan beating him at this stage, he'd have a hard time getting near him I think, Olesogun is far too experienced for Khan, and has beaten far better opponents than Khan has faced thus far.
Only time will tell where the two of them will end up, but right now Khan has a lot to learn, and he ain't going to learn until he steps up.
I'm reckon Khan could beat Reid, but I'm sure he would get caught a few times along the way. Khan however, would probably put in a more focussed and consistent performance than Olesogun who spend far too much time pratting around, when had he stuck his foot on the gas, and kept it there, could probably have stopped Reid.

Olusegun has rightly won big acclaim after beating up Numbembe and Pryce. We'll be lucky if Khan takes on that level in the next year and a half.
The response to Olusegun last Sat has been mature with a good sense of perspective. i.e. he can be brilliant but he's an egotist and has turned the ppl off who lauded him.
Nothing wrong with Adam Smith. He can call a decent fight. B/C you have no objections to Duke and John Rawling glossing over some of the lesser ITV shows. Smith didn't try and tell us last Fri was sensational - at all. I recall him using the words "weird", "temperamental", and others to that effect.

Seriously though FB, how much worse is Limmond to Pryce and Nuumbembe P4P. Nuumbembe SCRAPED past Anderson (a tad controvesial) and Pryce has been exposed at British title level in the past, both at Light Middle and Welter.
I think talk of Olusugun vs Khan is a little silly for the moment. Khan is a big Lightweight, but Olusugun is a big Light Welter.

As someone said a month or so ago - think it was FW might have been Colin Hart.... Khan might now beat Thaxton, or Earl, or whomever but it would be a damaging fight....TerribleTerry wrote:Dean Powell would have a function if he heard you were putting these sorts of fights forward for the SN golden goose!boxingchat wrote:Let's not get carried away with Olusegun fellas. I agree there, this matchup wouldn't do Khan any favours at mo.stujones wrote:Seriously though FB, how much worse is Limmond to Pryce and Nuumbembe P4P. He's still a lightweight, also i've no problem with the Limmond fight next for Khan

Mate, two different things all together. Big padded headgear, big soft gloves, that's why Khan wont be any big shakes in the pro game, total hype pish. The amateur game is more like a game of tag, they dont really score body shots anymore, at least not on the shows I've seen recently. Olusgen, Reid, Muttley, Morrison et al would all murder the kid. If he was that good he'd be in against these guys alreadysweetscience wrote:i wish someone could hype me up an olympic silver medalAmsterdam wrote:Khan won't be world class, he's a hype job joke.

and am/pro boxing is different, but class counts, and he has it
and dont give me that 'what about audley?' crap, Khan is different, he will be world class, and if not, british boxing is fucked cause we aint got anyone else anywhere near his talent (maybe Haye)
Khan has dusted everyone in his fights, is running rings round far more experienced pro's in the gym, so i dont see any reason why people would think he wont make it
being matched poorly doent count anymore, he is fighitn for the commonweath title in his 12/13th fight

Look I've no axe to grind with anyone, and as far as I'm concerned every UK Promotor has their good points, and their bad points.
This question is sincere - would your treatment of Khan be different if he was dealing with a different Promotional outlet, because I believe that to be a resounding yes.
Give the kid a break.
He's fighting for a title after a dozen fights, and can only challenge the belt holder.
Judge him when he steps up in class - which will only be when Oliver amongst others thinks he's ready.
As has already been pointed out, there is a vast difference between am and pro and adjustment needs time.
Or would you prefer to see his career ruined before it's started ?

I love the typical british outlook on out top prospects, Khan won a silver medal as an 18 YEAR OLD for f*cks sake. He has gone on to beat everyone put in front of him so far. Next up for him is an experienced pro who is still looking to win.
Lay off Khan , he's done more for boxing in this country than most other boxers ever have.
But most of you lot can't wait to see him fail
