As a cockney git living with my beautiful Angel of the North, I have been introduced to many verbal northernisms, the best of which is;
"NOW THEN"
This phrase can mean any of the following....
"Hello"
"Goodbye"
"There is a rat in the bin bag"
"It's raining"
"Same again please"
"Look at the tits on her"
"Driver, my dog is under the front wheel of your bus"

In extreme cases it can even mean "Now then"
