you shouldnt always belive what you read in paperssilkov wrote:She may be what ever but the fact that a big guy like delaney finds reason to beat up a woman shows that they guy is a dumb bully and a danher to others... as has been borne out by this incident...lvlarc_uk wrote:Wasn't that Joe Marsh (SLUT) ? murder 1 is premeditated, a planned killing - Murder 2 is deciding to kill somebody given a situation that angers you, as an example - Manslaughter, accidental death - Would have thought the third was most applicable and murder 2 inappropriate without knowing the facts - As a former doorman/superviser from the 70s we settled over 90% of all trouble/disputes with words and calming and never hit first - I only came accross two who broke those rules and both were sacked as unsuitable - Its up to the management to employ negotiaters not bullies - Sounds like overkill you dont need to use all your weight and strength to drop most people especially if they are drunk - These people need regulating by some authority.Old bones Ian wrote:I asked the same thing earlier, to be guilty of murder , isn't it the premeditated unlawful killing of a person?jamesmcdonnell wrote:The murder verdict is strange isn't it, I mean if he only hit him once, then how is that murder, surely they cannot determine that he knew he would hit him with sufficient force to kill him?

They are, theoretically though. The local councils keep a register of all doormen, who have to be accredited to work a door legally.
The thing is, most clubs just want to make sure they don't get fekked over by criminals, or end up with loads of nutty chavs smashing the place to bits, but no offence, many of the doormen, or at least some of them, are nutty chavs themselves, who end up letting their chavvy mates in, dealing pills, and smacking people about.
I've seen it happen loads of times.
One club i used to go to regularly, the doormen were all from this firm whose name I forget, the guy who owned it was a complete steroid monster, absolutely huge meathead with a short temper.
The head doorman of the club was an ex-con who had been done numerous times for GBH and ABH, and a former armed robber, who had managed to fake his ID to get certificated, and was selling pills in the club. He also carried CS gas, and a knuckle duster with him, and I saw him bashing up some asian lad who was drunk and a bit lairy who was trying to get in, whacking him in the face with the knucle duster and busting his face open, before telling him to eff off 'before you get some more.'
I warned the club owners that the people they had in charge of their door were lunatics who were going to bring trouble down on their club, but they weren't interested.

I think the bouncer/doorman often reflects the quality of the club/venue.
I've been to the upmarket ones and they are generally polite, almost 'greeters'.
But Bagleys (not sure if that place is still going) at 3am on a Sunday morning the bouncers are pretty rough and almost as bad as the people in the rave.

Partly it's an age thing and partly just not liking those sort of places but I don't even think about going in anywhere that has a doorman
To be honest, I would rather go to a decent restaurant or boozer in a part of town where the scumbags arn't interested in going even if it means I am paying more for my night out

Had a further think and decided maybe 2nd degree murder is the correct decision - Aggressive big guys are dangerous but if they happen to be pro fighters as well, the average Joe stands no chance at all against them therefore to hit someone full force they must know there is a good chance they could kill them - Delaneys fists are weapons, forget split lips and black eyes, they can and have done, far more damage - Clubs need to be inspected to see if the door men are provoking trouble and if they are they should lose their license - Perfectly decent reasonable people often become complete arseholes after a few drinks and they just need speaking to and warning if necessary and they usually see sense - If they are really drunk then they are all mouth and nothing else and speaking to them is a waste of time - Dont let them in and if they are in get them out in a painful hold if they wont go willingly - Hitting has to be as a last resort and only if they hit first - We used to joke with the punters and most of them were OK with us - You have to show you are in charge and brawling with the punters is not the way to do it.

Anywhere with a queue or bouncers means Goz walks right on past.
If I was single that might change a bit because you get on the pulling train and those types of clubs do generally offer the best chance of taking home a young lady...
Glad it's not just me, and I have always been that way. I think I have queued twice in my life to get in somewhere and both time I left as soon as I could (phone number of particular-reason-for-being-there in pocket ;) hehe). For the record: Delany was very nice when I met him a few times, but then I wasn't in his bad books....Goz wrote:Abso-bloody-lutely.Slapsie Maxie wrote:Partly it's an age thing and partly just not liking those sort of places but I don't even think about going in anywhere that has a doorman

Can you imagine being on the jury for that case, and the judge asks if any of you know him apart from maybe having seen him on TV etc? As much as I'd have wanted to stay and hear all the ins-and-outs of the case, I'd have to have admitted I'd known him in the past and be excused.
best wishes,
