For the English, who do you want to win?Calzghe - Kessler
It seems Kessler is trying to get some fans on his side by saying his mothers English, and it seems from threads that it's actually working and people are getting behind him.
I am not one of these, i am fully behind Calzaghe and will be at the fight, i see Boxing as more of UK then just England/Wales/Scotland etc, so please just the English vote on this, thanks.

I've always cheered for talent & honesty, if the opposing team scores a great goal or even makes some great plays, I applaud whole heartedly. Likewise if one of my teams players gets taking down, I never cry 'foul' unless it really is!
I have found in following Boxing & research 'we' England are the worst for Bias and insecurity, harnessing the same old names over & over again as though we have/had no others, rediculous, inaccurate and crazy.
I was cheering for Calzaghe & Hopkins years ago and likewise Eastman - Hopkins, long before it happened, when I think both boys could have beaten the overated Hopkins...now all these years later England in Calzaghe have demonstrated their typical Hype, Bullshite and protection,
I'd like to see Calzaghe win for Calzaghe's sake, but for National pride and identity 'we' England don't deserve it and niether do we for Hatton either and Khan is another on the English 'win', exalt, protect and praise up beyond all 'true' worth!
England just does not deserve it, KESSLER...
P.S. at least Ricky is going to attempt a TRUE reputable legacy, Jeff Lacy please, Manfredo say no more...Kessler might even stop him, would be nice if the B.S stopped with it!
from a British fan, but an honest man.

I ALWAYS support the English fighter over any opponent, but I ain't having it that Mikkel is all of a sudden part of the master-nation.
I've never heard Kessler BIGGING up the English before this.
Kessler was born and bred in Denmark, he's a Dane. Come on JC!!
Of course if Kessler wins then he'll be as English as the Yorkshire Pudding(joke)

i have no dislike for Kessler, and i think him trying to use the 'English' angle is very astute of him.
i'm a big fan of both fighters but Joe is the Briton and i've been following him and admiring his work for a long time and would be a very proud lad if he could do the job. Going to this one too
CUMMMAAAAAN JOE!!

"I want England to lose."
Don't let him off for that.
4 champs - calzaghe, Hatton, Rees, maccarinelli. with another to come this year, Haye IMO,Captain Hook wrote:It doesn't matter what the English think, JC will dismantle Kessler and that's that...
Though it's nice to see most on here agree.
We have three world champs now, that's pretty damn good for such a tiny country....
Kessler's going to do the dismantling. Calzaghe's got it coming. It's the fight he's seen fit to not grab for three years.
Kessler's done this before. Go abroad, beat on a talented homeboy. Mundine was defensive; Calzaghe will be agressive. Doesn't matter - instead of landing 1/2 punches he'll be landing full punches. Joe's not really fought a good boxer in his prime and he's never fought as good a fighter as Kessler, a very big talent in his prime.
I'm primarily English, but I'm also British hence why I want JC to win. A very strong majority of Wales, Scotland and Ireland always want England to lose, but I rise above it.Autobarn wrote:you've nevr heard Calzaghe biggin gup the English either.Chambers2 wrote:I ALWAYS support the English fighter over any opponent, but I ain't having it that Mikkel is all of a sudden part of the master-nation.

I was at uni in Wales (Aberystwyth) and when England played France in the 5 nations the Welsh used to dress up in French colours with onions, berets and hooped tops
I think that when CH said we have 3 champs he was referring to the Welsh rather than the BritishAutobarn wrote:4 champs - calzaghe, Hatton, Rees, maccarinelli. with another to come this year, Haye IMO,Captain Hook wrote:It doesn't matter what the English think, JC will dismantle Kessler and that's that...

Very well said sir, my full agreement. I also concur that Kessler is Danish-with-an-English-mother, whereas Calzaghe is Welsh-British so he must surely get our voteChambers2 wrote:

And that is something I never understand. I understand Inter-British rivalry between the 3 main areas of the UK, but never supporting another country over one of our own. If our team goes out of a competition I would support Scotland or Wales, or even Ireland if they were still left in before I supported France etc.... I am always saddened by the Scottish/Welsh factions when they show this charateristic in their nature.Chambers2 wrote: when England played France in the 5 nations the Welsh used to dress up in French colours with onions, berets and hooped tops![]()

If these were two boxers from say Switzerland and Austria, we would want the more exciting, younger boxer to win, who looks like he will take more risks and have better opponents. End of.
BUT.... Since JC is British, you have to get behind your man. Anyone who bashes up Lacy cant be all bad.
I dont like the majority of English people, and IM ENGLISH!

Maybe in football, Rugby or the Olympics where the competitors have been selected to represent the country, but I really apply this in boxing. I don't think there's any obligation to support a fighter just because he's British.MIKEE wrote:If these were two boxers from say Switzerland and Austria, we would want the more exciting, younger boxer to win, who looks like he will take more risks and have better opponents.
