Might be the Worlds in Chicago. I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

Anyone know why there wasn't a 201 or 201+ bout at the dual? Did Australia fail to bring the two big guys?

An athlete not showing or not calling is not good and he should not be given any future international experience unless he was in the hospital unconscious or something.

What about 201? Did the US have another guy not show or what?

I'M SURE THEY KNEW THEY MADE A MISTAKE NOT BRINGING WILSON, SINCE HE ALWAYS SHOWS UP FOR FIGHTS AND CAMPS. THEY PROBABLY FIGURED THEY WOULD GIVE BETHEL A CHANCE BUT HE JUST BLEW IT.

Jarrod Fletcher is indeed Australia's top middleweight. I'm surprised Estrada handled him like that, Fletcher is supposed to be really good and I wasn't sure if Shawn was completely over his issues with keeping calm.

Kolya - You just never know what Shawn is going to show up. So far it's been good. :D I'm keeping my fingers crossed because he's a good kid and a good athlete.

I am glad to see a clean sweep by the U.S. Now if the #1 team can do well in Chicago that would be even better.

Three members of the Olympic team participated in the dual with Australia: Raynell Williams, Sadam Ali and Shawn Estrada.

My Australian coach friend cringed when he saw the results. He even said they weren't the best. That's their World team, not necessarily going to the Olympics. Guess they are sticking around the U.S. for sparring/experience.

Other countries think that sticking around the U.S. will benefit them? That must say we are doing something right. I really think our athletes could be the best in the world, but they need to gain experience. More international trips for more athletes starting at age 15 would really help.

Unfortunately, and not to be negative; but Australia's amateur program and system really isn't that great. They have some good fighters (like Jarrod Fletcher); but all my Aussie friends have told me their system down there isn't really very good. So staying in the US for a while is probably a great opportunity for that team to get experience in the US and training they don't get in Oz.

Getting back to Shawn Estrada. We just had a celebration for him this past Saturday and he is extremely focused.

BTW, Hello BoxMel. This ELAndy, formally from Montebello PAL.

Hey, Andy - what do you mean formerly from Montebello PAL? Where are you now?

I most sincerely hope Shawn stays focused for the next year. In talking with Dan Campbell in May, he seems to understand Shawn and knows just how to work with him to overcome the "other" Shawn. I have always liked Shawn and have watched him come out of the JOs and move into the elite group. I'm proud of him and my fingers are crossed for him - and Javier (our LBC) and Mike Hunter (our Region). All are great young men. :TU:

Hello - I hope you and your husband Rick are doing well?

I was at Santa Fe Springs BC for a while. I am now training amateurs and pros at La Azteca in Bell.

I totally agree with you as well Shawn, Javier and Mike are all solid kids and deserve nothing but the best.

I hope to see you soon. Take care and God Bless!!!
