Joey Dawejko wins pal at super heavyweight!
joey dawejko moved up to super heavyweight, and won the national pal. he defeated Jamey Medlock, las vegas nv, 13-9, and beat andre cathron, los angelas ca, 37-14 to win the national pal title at super heavyweight!!! did anyone see him out there??? if so how did he look?? thanks alot!
If you're referring to the finals at the PAL, I've already commented on that. As I stated before, he mostly head-hunted and didn't really use any combinations or body punching. He did decision the taller opponent but, in my opinion, he'd be better at 201. 8)yea he does have a problem with tall guys, but i heard he fought a guy 6'2 6'3 in the finals which he did great against, so i guess he is trying to change his style? i think he will be a great 201 for the next 4 years!!
did u judge that fight or no?? how do u think he boxed?? i heard danny garcia is turning pro on nov. 17 for a little bit more philly news!! i think he would do great in the pros, he is a very strong fighter!! i wish him the best!!boxmel wrote:If you're referring to the finals at the PAL, I've already commented on that. No - I was there reporting the Championship results and watching the bouts. See my previous statement about my opinions.did u judge that fight or no?? how do u think he boxed??
Many of our elite boxers will be turning pro now. Whether or not they do well in the pros remains to be seen. I wish them all the best of luck.i heard danny garcia is turning pro on nov. 17 for a little bit more philly news!! i think he would do great in the pros, he is a very strong fighter!! i wish him the best!!
yea i am surprised to, but i heard he was a little heavy like 206 and didnt want to take it off, so he just decided to move up, it was for the better i guess!!Dennis wrote:I'm surprised that Joey went up in weight. After the U.S. Championships, his grandpa had said that Joey might move down to 178. I guess the decision to move up for the PAL tourney paid off.
Tyson was not an exceptional amateur, either. He could hit but couldn't box. And couldn't get past the taller guys (Tillman) when it counted. Joey actually has some skills that could be better used at 178 or 201 where he would have an advantage due to said skills. He is a bit chubby which tells me he could probably trim down.

Tyson
Mel, not sure if I agree with you on Tyson. To make the boxoffs and come in 2nd for the Olympic team as a 17 year old (To the eventual Gold Medalist may I add) is pretty darn good. If one of our amateur accomplished that this year we would be thrilled.
yes, but i heard danny garcia got robbed when he fought javier in the finals of the trials, i think danny garcia should get the credit he deserves, which no one gives to him!! he was only 17 when he won the u.s. championships in 2006, which nobody seems to give him credit for in one of the most experienced weight classes, so i think he should start getting more respect, from everyone!!boxmel wrote:I think Javier Molina is still 17 and I'm darned proud of him - and thrilled. 8)
In case you didn't already know, almost every boxer who loses gets robbed. Just want to make sure you understand that. And since you weren't there to see the bout, you probably shouldn't be giving someone else's opinion. The minute I see "I heard," I tune out.
I think Danny Garcia has earned and gained a lot of respect during his amatuer years and has had an enormous amount of credit given to him - as have all our elite boxers, win or lose.
So your point is?
