He shouldnt really complain..he has got a shot completely out of the blue...Podmore_Birmingham wrote:This piece has had to be taken down for the time because, as petty as it might sound, Abraham’s promoters don’t want anything up until the press conference on October 29.
I just got a call from Wayne, who said he couldn’t believe how petty they were being.
Tom Podmore.

So if Elcock, Hatton and Calzaghe all win in December, who would get your boxer of the year award?
But AA is no Mayweather
If Hatton beats him he should get BBC Sports personality never mind boxer of the year

True AA Is no Floyd, but Hatton's a world class fighter and Elcock's considered British level and Hatton and Floyd wouldn't be considered as big a mismatch then AA and Elcock.Smigga wrote:Not havin' a go hereMax Molyneux wrote:If Elcock won I'd say him considering the upsets and level he's at.Old bones Ian wrote:Great news for Wayne and British boxing in general.

I hope he does, leave his British for me
I'm presuming as well that this will be on Sky. At the very least will be good to see AA in action and it'll be great to see a live German show.
Never seen Elcock but I think I have some of his fights on disc. Good stuff, another Brit in a world title fight. Something to look forward to, but I think we should have more Johanesson-Gomez style fights!

I think he loses his but he has a chance, points? - NAH - not in germany.
AA gets this - BUT 'COME ON WAYNE'!
He won't be getting paid well, I think that is why the Germans have been struggling to make the fight with anyone.
The purse is bout 60,000 US dollars, so by the time deductions are taken and this is before the taxman takes his cut it will be less than 20k sterling take home

but if wayne wins then he could be looking at a huge payday with pavlik or he would sell out anywhere in birmingham. Wayne isn't a young guy just setting out, he's over 30 so has to give it a shot when he gets the chance.DG. wrote:Coco wrote:DG. wrote:Wow, big ask for WE - ut hopefull he gets paud well.

Can totally understand taking this fight, even though he will be a massive underdog, you've got to take those chances when they come along, especially at his age. If he wins, then he can get a really nice payday off the back of it, and if he loses, but acquits himself well, he could get another opportunity.
It's amazing how a fighter can sometimes seem to rise several levels of ability on the night, look at Gavin Rees, nobody gave him a prayer.
Whilst Elcock doesn't have Eastman's ability (a prime Eastman I mean), he probably will make a better go of it than Eastman did, in that he will give it everything, win or lose.

With Elcock holding the British title and a recent clear win over Howard Eastman I dont thinnk its a 'joke' fight - not for a voluntary anyway.ArtOfWar wrote:How comes no one has brought up the fact that it's a joke of a fight?
Abraham is going to hammer Elcock.
Good luck Wayne - bring the title home to Brum!

The British title is league's apart from world level and Eastman is well past it. It's a terrible voluntary defense.TerribleTerry wrote:With Elcock holding the British title and a recent clear win over Howard Eastman I dont thinnk its a 'joke' fight - not for a voluntary anyway.ArtOfWar wrote:How comes no one has brought up the fact that it's a joke of a fight?
