Hopefully they will show it tomorrow, but how in the heck did Rau'shee get his two front teeth knocked out? Headbut and mouthpiece didn't fit right?

Congrats to Warren and Andrade! First World gold medals since 1999. And kudos to Frankie Gavin!

What is the deal with all the w/o in the semi-finals. This is the World Championships after all. It is not just some continental qualifier that getting qualified is all that matters. Here it is about winning the World Championships.
I think it is a little like the US Championships. Once guys qualified for the trials, they started bowing out, saving it for the big show. Maybe with some minor injuries, they have already quailified for the Olympics, they don't care that this is the world championships and are saving it for Beijing.
Saving it for Beijing is stupid. It is 10 months away. If it was within the next 2 months I could see holding off. The only reason to hold off is if it is a career threatening injury that could be made worse by continuing on.

Yeah, I would like to know what happened to the Russian too. I think the rules say that there should be a re-draw, but I don't recall ever seeing it happen.
Dennis, I perused the AIBA rule book. There is no rule regarding redraws. All it says it that each boxer must have boxed at least once in a tournament. Redraws in the U.S. normally and usually happen in the beginning, if there is a problem. Never in a semi.
Yeah, it would be a little bit of a hassle and could really screw up other boxers mindsets as they are preparing for future opponents.

I believe, Rau'shee already had a fake tooth or teeth, unless it was just a gold cap. Much easier to have false teeth or caps knocked out.

Awesome for Rau'shee and Demetrius. Demetrius could have bowed out of the tourney with an injury, but boxed through it and for his efforts he won GOLD! I didn't get the three medals I had predicted, but two golds is a good consolation prize!!!

I'm surprised by one of the other powerhouses - Italy. Two golds, a silver and a bronze. WOW. They win both the heavy and superheavy divisions. It must be the pasta.

BTW - Andrade gets the only stoppage win of the finals. I know it was for an injury but Demetrius was well on his way to 20 pointing his opponent.

Not to dis Andrade........ 8) but with the number of "major world championships" available, he is certain to win one. :box:

Credit must be given for Cammarelle and Russo for their wins.
This is a surprise, but there are some reasons as to why the Italians won gold at heavy and super heavy.

Russian Super heavy Timurziev was ill with an undisclosed stomach problem. Perhaps the appendix. Timurziev fought Hunter only to qualify for the Olympics. He beat him less then 100%, then had to withdraw.

The 2nd or 3rd best heavy was a Finish heavy named Helnius also had to withdraw before the event due to a hand injury. These two scratches, combined with Cammarelle's favorable draw are reasons why he won the gold.

Russia’s best heavy is Romanchuk, but he had bad relations with the team, and was not selected for the Russian team in the 2007 World amateur tournament.

If Timurzuev was healthy, and Romanchuck was on the team, it is unlikely that the Italians win two gold medals at heavy and super heavy. In fact, they might have had to settle for Bronze or Silver.

That might be true, but keep in mind Timuruzev and Romanachuck both lost at the Russian National Championship.
