Well, you can't be THAT much of a sports fanatic. It's Beth Tweddle and she won an individual gold at the World Championships (gymnastics) which is as rare as rocking horse shite. I wouldn't have objected if she or Nicole Cooke (cyclist) had won.
Then again, you've got the 'personality' element of the award to think about - which is bollocks if you ask me.
I've really lost a lot of respect for the BBC re this award. Phillips was showcased early and seemed to have longer than the other candidates meaning casual voters had more opportunity to ring in.

Hobson didnt have the connections or experience to run promotions in the States, he would have just been an expensive advisor from what I can tell about the situation.
It's a popularity contest along the lines of reality t.v. talent shows whereby the most deserving may win but there's no guarantees.
Makes me wonder at last years winner. Perhaps there are more royalists in this country than I thought, but there again we are a pretty apathetic nation so who kows. In actual fact who cares. OOPS I'll be sure to cast a vote this year (if I can be bothered).

Hamilton will be first or second, the fornicating England rugby team will get loads of plaudits for scraping and kicking their way to the final and shit like Michael Owen and Peter Crouch will be interviewed about their failures.
Real winners like JC, James Toseland and the more obscure sportsmen and women will not get a look in - snooker, squash, swimming etc etc
I mean, who the fornicate would have voted for Zara Phillips? Her nan must have run up a massive fornicating phone bill while sat on the throne, the old pudendum.
I would think that a lot of people with no sporting knowledge whatsoever did phone in and vote for the royal because she is....a royal, and no other reason.
Anyway Hamilton will probably get it this time as, even though he failed to win, he gave Formula 1 a serious boost around the world by helping to create a proper championship race after years boredom. He was also on everyones screens for most of 2007 whereas JC fights twice in a year, one fight being a joke and the other on Setanta at 1am.
Don't forget the likes of Andrew Murray, Paula Radcliffe, Johnny Wilkinson etc, they are bound to have more chance of winning. I'm sure boxing will get a mention though!
