If you say so.

I agree with Stu. Kessler is a tactically tighter version of Froch, so I think Carl loses. I really believe Froch would have a few things to trouble Calzaghe with early on though. Pride is one big factor. Not that Mikkel didn't have any - christ no, just that Carl is a fiery customer. He might not catch Joe with anything meaningful, but he'd be trying his utmost to hurt him. Benn vs. Eubank, slightly.

Dean Francis could be another great opponent for JC at LH. Dean's always had that textbook style, and he still moves well. We know how Calzaghe's struggled before against boxers with a top defence.

There is no way on earth Calzaghe is going to fight Dean Francis. And what has Francis shown in his comeback to suggest he could compete at world level?

Kessler would win against Froch 9 times out of 10.

You are right Max... I hate FROCH...can't you tell...Im sick of that hype on a guy that didn't prove anything. He bad mouths against Bute...to my point of view, he's boxed and beaten world-class fighters (both Bika and Salem, which he stopped, fought Calzaghe and both made him look bad) Berrio is arguably the best "pure puncher" in the division. Bute is the future and...he his WORLD CHAMPION (not Brit brit champ)lolllllllll

If I'm honest I don't really know enough about Bute to rate him one way or the other. Lacy's yet to prove conclusively that he has recovered (psychologically) from the twelve-round torture he underwent at the hands of Joe and although Mundine's an improved fighter he did suffer the indignity of being counted out against Ottke, who isn't really a puncher. Additionally his widely publicised eye-problems do not auger well against a long-armed puncher like Froch. After all, a huge percentage of knockouts come from the ones they don't see coming. So I'm a little more cautious about dismissing his chances against any of the above. Conversely, Froch has yet to prove he is anything special either.

I do speculate though that he might find himself out of his depth against Kessler.

On Kessler coming back and cleaning out a post-Joe landscape. Can he really do it?
I ask not on account of ability, but I really think that people are underestimating how demoralizing his defeat to Joe might potentialy be.
You make some very good points and your reply is very well thought out - Yes, you are absolutely right about Mundines eye problems, I had completely forgotten about that - Jeff Lacy just couldnt deal with Joes speed but few can - He had a great run of success before Calzaghe and good few gave Joe no chance of beating him - Kessler, I am pretty sure will bounce back, he is a proud fighter - Joe even said "I beat you once, but I am not sure I could do it again" - A rematch is therefore out of the question which must be upsetting for Kessler - It wasnt a one sided thrashing and Kessler knows he didnt lose badly - He knew he and Joe were the top men and now that has been sorted out, IMO when Joe vacates he will be aiming to regain the titles and therefore the top position - Maybe Kessler does need a couple of confidence booster fights, I dont know, but I cant see anyone else beating him at 168, and definately not Froch.

The_Option wrote:Froch is SO overrated, that is not even funny... Wow, he beat Dodson and Tatevosyan...BIG DEAL. Tatavosyan fought 2 months after taking a massive beating from Bute, he wasn't ready to fight, even a welterweight would have dropped Tatevosyan that night. Froch mouths he can drop Bute...LOLLLLLLLLLLL Bute would eat him alive. He his the future of this division (ok Kessler is, if he is not moving to Light Heavy) but seriously, Froch mouths about everybody and is schduled to fight Grandpa Reid... I would love to see him challenge either Bute or Andrade...He would see what champs are made of, no Dodson or Reid...Comon Carl, let's be serious here, you are in the top 10 I give you that, but not even close to number 5...you are still long ways for a belt...at least a major one
Crackhead!!

Bute will get whats coming to him in good time, Froch is the future of the 168ers

Froch's chin is granite, he's never been put down as amateur or pro

Either way I'm amazed that people are considering Carl fighting Mikel when he hasn't even fought for a European title. I may be old fashioned but I always feel like you should clean up domestically, then European, before you tackle world level. Especially when the fighter is one of the top 20 (at least) in the world.

How would fighting Kessler be any different?

Froch is well ranked in all the World governing bodies, so its not as if he's not worthy of fighting MK. I seem to remember Mick Hennessey saying there were alot of politics in the way of Carl fighting for the Euro title.

I like our fighters to go the traditional route (Brit-Euro-World) to the top, but the majority don't these days(Eubank/Benn/Calzaghe/Bruno/Hatton/Enzo/Haye....)
