Obviously flawed, raw etc. but IF he improves that was a great debut - Grandone had big balls and fast hands.
if he improves that was a great debut? i dont get it, why would future improvements make his debut better

he's good and has a fun style, but got work to do and not every olympian reaches the top. we will see
Sorry grammar police.
That was a good debut. Full Stop. And IF he improves he should go far in a weak cruiser division.

"Good and has a fun style" as you say.

That’s the closest decent sized arena to Sale.

How good is this pat brown character?

Suposidly a good ticket seller, 6’6, only 25, not a banger… basically the perfect combo to get lots of the right fights.

brown is 6'6 in the way moses itauma was originally 6'6

with another 6'6 listed delicious orie. brown is maybe 6'2 assuming orie is really 6'6 - given how heights are inflated in sports, i doubt that orie is any taller than that

We got to find out a lot more about Brown than if they put him in with a guy not trying to win.

We saw that Brown has power, good bodywork, questionable stamina and a leaky defence.

Far better than a 1 minute blowout.
Yep. It’s good to see prospects fighting guys trying to win.

Fully agree with your summary on Brown. Will be a fun fighter but way too easy to hit and didn’t look like an elite prospect. Hopefully that’s just nerves.

Almost the perfect level fight for actual development… but he still needs to stack his record…

I know very little about pat, but he feels like a perfect candidate for a full domestic rout.” As a ticket seller

-6 tough internationals 2025
- area title shot and 2 defences + English title and 2 defences 2026.
-commonwealth title shot and a defence defences + British title shot and Mabey a defence 2027… (if he is good enough)…

It’s fight #1 so not gonna look too much into it. Maybe he wanted to please the crowd too much.
It might not even be his style at all or he might look back at the tape and think, right, are the top level I can’t be doing that.

Let’s see how his next few fights go and we can probably judge and see where he actually is.

A most excellent debut fight for the fans, Rightly so, being the headliner. Did Lennox headline at the Royal Albert Hall on his debut? I can’t remember ..

Weird online fanboy report on Bomber Brown in boxing news. No mention of all those shots he took and makes him sound like the second coming of Rocky Marciano.

Pat and the Romford bull would be a fun one

Got to say his opponent really gave it a go .

Can't be many times you would get a reasonably tough test as an opener.

That was one of the most enjoyable professional debuts I can remember.

I like the look of Brown already. Composed, but can change through the gears when needed.

The opponent was very game and played his part to the full. To be honest, I'd have liked to have seen his corner retire him at the end of the 3rd round. He'd given his all and should have been spared from taking any more punishment.

With matchmaking like that on his debut, this is a boxer I'll be following :TU:

Yh he is. They announced that a while back.

Nice for him.

Hometown debut and main event.

Hearn gonna hype the crap out of him.

He needs his Manchester talent.
thanks Ruthless - listened to him post-fight seems a decent fella

By the way, Lennox Lewis wasn't the bill topper when he turned pro at the Royal Albert Hall, although it was a big deal and got a fair amount of fanfare considering he was thought of as Canadian.

I was there that night and Gary Jacobs was the main event who wasted no time in sending the American Rollin Williams packing !

It was a good card with cracking little 8 rounder between Keith Wallace & Marvin Stone. Wallace just had too much experience.

Also a spectacular knock out win for Kid Milo over recent British title challenger Johnny Melfah.

Yup!

Was watched by 4 million.

Before that, he had his final amateur fight, which was gaining revenge on the man that beat him to Gold. Was also on ITV.

Not too sure. But this was peak UK free TV aswell. Fresh of his Silver medal too. He had bums in seats and eyes on the telly.

Now if Pat can achieve a fraction of that in todays world, then he will be good.

Only thing is, you’re behind a paywall too.

It got cancelled late on the night before. It was a fairly big fight at the time. Mark Krence came in at very short notice. I was gutted as i only found out on the way there. Obviously the spotlight was on Khan, he went on last, then there was a bomb scare. Eventful night.

So I take it this Pat Brown is a decorated amateur?

I caught this fight, but I was at work, and couldn't hear the commentary. I was surprised to see a guy making his Pro Debut in the Main Event, but the crowd was really up for him. Dude definitely tagged him with some serious shots in those first few rounds, but Brown's body punches started having such an obvious effect on his opponent that it was only a matter of time before he finished him. Good 1st fight, he had to work for it. He's gonna need to work on his defense before fighting heavier hitters.

It's worth pointing out that particular boom in UK terrestrial boxing was entirely down to Audley Harrison and the 10 fight deal he'd signed with the bbc, which totally regenerated and renewed mainstream TV participation for a time.
