Thing is, this is just a case of seen it all before isn't it?

Tyson says he's coming back. Pictures and videos of him emerge puffing and panting when he's having a jog, or lumbering about doing a bit of pad work whilst clearly still fat. A date of sorts emerges.

What would be of genuine interest would be Fury getting a licence, an opponent, a date, and a venue. Until then, it's no different to countless other announcements all of which turned to dust.

I don’t often agree with dirk but he’s absolutely spot on here. It’s just more smoke and mirrors from Tyson whose latest comeback plan often occurs when AJ’s next opponent is being discussed in the media.

I hope he gets his head down and gets into shape but he still looks horribly overweight and has a long way to go.

The licence and doping stuff still needs to be resolved so until it is he's just noise.

And stay there for a year.
Come back with two impressive warm ups fights- one in the US - free on C5 while simaltaneously coming a respectable 3rd in Strictly Come Dancing and drilling the 'Celebrity Chase'/Blankety Blank/League of their Own circuit.
Summer 2019 and the biggest UK PPV of all time.
With Wenbley stadium and US friendly timing, it could be the biggest PPV ever...

Completely agree, if he was to just go away, some remote place, take away his phone and dedicate himself to boxing every day for 6 months with seriously hard sparring partners he could jump in with Joshua next summer and rumble straight away. I think all the boxing fans on here would like him to do a number on Mr Humble wouldn't they?

Not really. I find Joshua's fights to be exciting. I hate the idea that anyone who 'really' likes boxing would rather watch a chess match that Castillo Corrales or Gatti Ward. Joshua Klitschko was great entertainment and Fury Klitschko was painful.

I used to like Fury but Christ, for an honest bloke he doesn't half come out with some nonsense. "I don't need warm ups and I'd beat you now you bum." Yeah yeah Tyson, you sound tired after opening your car window.

At this point, Fury becoming fit is just as probable as Pink Floyd going on world tour.

I hear you and yes I agree, rather watch Joshua every time. I guess its the side of me wanting Tyson to win because he gets a lot of stick from people. But yes Joshua is more exciting I just would like to see Tyson win as it goes against the system a bit doesn't it?

He gets stick for all the sh*t he comes out with. For someone who seems keen to leap on anybody having a go at gypsy culture, he doesn't do much to alter the stereotype (the homophobia, sexism, the "Uncle Tom" comment and the coke being particular highlights)

He didn't get the credit he deserved for beating Klitschko, but that's mainly because the majority of the public who had heard of him, had already seen/heard/read quite enough to have already made their minds up about him, regardless of what he does (or did) in the ring.

You know exactly what I mean. Ask people on here who got them into boxing or which fights made them a fan. Naz in an up and down fight with Kevin Kelley? Hatton battering Tszyu into submission? Benn getting knocked out the ring and coming back to upset McClellan? Tyson destroying everyone in front of him? Kids these days will have watched Joshua Klitschko and will reference that as the moment they became a fan.

Nobody is watching Klitschko Fury and thinking 'wow - seven punches a round!! This is the sport for me.' Yet you get weird types, (like you), who insist Joshua is for the kids and casuals and if you can't appreciate Furys silky skills you know nothing.

I understand you hate this, but it's what it is.

Yes, I watched it near ringside and saw him box his head off. Appreciated the achievements, watched AJ win the Haringey cup the same day we had a skilful boxer on, too. But yes, I'm daft, haven't seen anyone...

He gets stick for two reasons; he's boring in the ring, and a bit of an idiot out of it. You get boxers who were pretty awful people but great to watch, and vice versa, but Fury fits into neither camp really, hence poor ticket sales and poor audience figures. He's just not that entertaining and as Mickey clearly can't get his head round, people don't really watch two lumbering heavyweights barely hitting each other and think 'this is brilliant.' It's like any sport - do you get into football because you like 4-3 thrillers or do you really enjoy watching your team snuff the life out of a game 1-0. There's no right answer - but clearly most people pick the former.

A Tyson win would go against the 'system' in a way, but it would hardly be some amazing upset. Loads of people on here seem to think all Fury has to do is shed ten stone and he'll be back to the heavyweight Mayweather he was beforehand. I obviously disagree with that particular fantasy but it's not like Fury is some distant outsider. That said, I'd rather Joshua won because he's not a god-crazy homophobic bible basher like Fury, (I hate people ramming religion down people's throats all the time and Fury is obsessed with it), and a Joshua win hopefully keeps him in entertaining fights.

It's good for the sport basically. Boxing is all the better for having Wembley full rather than 5,000 people in a three quarter full arena.

AJ or Haye never sold a ticket between them the times I saw them... Tyson against either would fill anywhere.

It's amazing. All Tyson had to do to become this popular was not fight!

Mick - it's hard to tell if you're on the wind up, or genuinely that thick. What on earth is the point you're trying to make here?

Just told you. I've seen Haye at Euro level with Spud dragging people in, there was still less than 200 there all night, live on Sky. AJ in Manchester, nobody came out of the bars. Yes, Eddie has done a good job with the PR.

I disagree with that completely, but I guess that is part of the reason why heavyweight boxing is so exciting!

Joshua would sell out Wembley even if he was just having a wank. The PR job plus Olympic gold and aggressive style has worked wonders.

I thought Fury looked fairly sharp in the footage, especially considering he’s way off being fight ready! Fingers crossed he’s taking it seriously again and it’s not another ‘I’m back!’ then 6 weeks later he’s put another two stone on.

How stuck in the past are you Mick? Haye has just sold out the O2 for a couple of bums. Joshua has just sold out Wembley. Your point is based around Haye fights from a decade+ ago and some odd point about people buying tickets for Joshua and not leaving the bar.

I sincerely hope we get to see Tyson Fury come back in either sh*t shape, good shape, or anywhere in between rather than listen to another year of how he'd beat this guy, that guy and other guys based on nothing at all except the way his fat jiggles

Hopefully it's more than a ploy to keep him in the media and is truly the start of the comeback. I'm not particularly a fan of Fury but he is a character and all sports need characters...

I couldn't have been the only one expecting wlad to get that decision? Yes, fury won and I desperately wanted him too, but there was so little going on in the ring it seemed like exactly the kind of shitfest the champ retains in. I understand this has turned into a benitez/palomino level master class, minus punching, but I'm here to tell you that fury looked like shit. My TV is a much better view than ringside, shit.

The bookies had Wlad an odds-on favourite to win the fight after the final bell.

158k tickets in 2 fights, both sold out in next to no time, it's a bit more than PR.
Presumably you'd be pleased if Fury could do the same or would you class them all as no nothing casuals?
