Would have been better in UK. But there’s a reason Fury signed a co-promotional deal with ESPN. They have the money to put up, FW does not.
I understand that ,however Tyson supposedly put off Wilder rematch to make a better name for himself in the US market. He should have faced a known US fighter who could put up a fight. This sort of rot is why boxing is losing its popularity so drastically here.
He just fought the only mildly known us fighter. Arum is hoping his personality and some random ESPN+ viewers will bump it up.
I wouldn't agree with Arum. If he fought a US fighter, it would draw more US interest if they marketed it right. With Schwartz, who really cares? It'll be "oh that guy who fought Wilder is fighting some German." The smart play would be to get a popular (local level) guy and market the hell out of it and put it on free tv. That's how you get exposure. More casuals (I hate that term) might be inclined to watch if it's free.

Agreed on the term, but 'casuals' is really fans outside of our obsessive love. I don't know about you, but back in the day when all my friends(even in grade school) watched some boxing I'd be the one to tell them they gotta watch this Michael moorer Lt heavy on NBC. They all knew the big guys and nationality meant nothing. Now, none of them watch. Fury vs (I don't even know whom you would want) is no different.

None of it is 'free' though. It's part of your cable. ESPN will get more casual viewers on + because they pay for it for the UFC than they would on their regular network.

I, as I’m sure most of us do, consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable about boxing but until the announcement I’ve never heard of Schwarz.
Looking at his record he’s fought no-one of note (the opponent I recognised was Gashi) and most of his recent opponents have had super padded records.
Poor poor fight.

He'd struggle against both. A motivated Chis would thrash him. Owns a massively padded record. He's young at 24, but geez...classic cherry picking. This is a disgrace. Any respect I got for Fury after Wilder is shot to shvt. How Wilder gets thrashed over the DAZN deal and fighting Breazeale, but Fury goes against a domestic level fighter.

No one will care. Schwarz doesn't have the heart to be a good fighter; he doesn't like getting hit. He'll crumble, unless Fury comes in fat and unmotivated and then it'll just be a shutout. Very sad.

I'd be happy to see Joshua, Wilder and Fury all lose their next fights, just to break this deadlock between them. So many people wrote Lewis off when he lost to McCall, but he picked himself up and proved them wrong. When he lost again to Rahman the response wasn't ‘career in tatters’, it was ‘he'll win a rematch’.
I've never thought less of any boxer for losing. Sometimes more.

So three of the past four defences of the "Lineal Championship" have been against Seferi (#51 in CW rankings) Pianeta (#110) and this guy.
Not a single person can justify this match up other than Fury’s bank manager! Embarassing opponent for the mythical lineal champ. Very disappointing
I am glad Fury is fighting Schwarz, because I've been waiting a long time for someone to stand that arrogant kraut on his head.
Look at the play acting in that video. What an embarrassment he is.
Thing is, it doesn’t need Fury. There could be upto 30 heavyweights who could stand Schwarz on his head...

It’s not a title. Never has been. The lineage ended with James J Jeffries. In theory it ended again on numerous occasions after that too.
