I don’t know. The guy at Birtley is the best trainer in the amateur game for me, but goes under the radar. The Leeds boys at Hunslet are mainly travelling boys and don’t go to school, Hope Price and his brothers have won it all. But I suppose it’s the same all over the country....

Obviously the gyms /coaches , have to be up to the job ,, but you need the talent to work with ,, I was gonna say do you think its because maybee theres more travellers up north , because its obvious a lot of travellers do well

Wanted to go to Truro ABC when that was still around but mother was having none of it! Didn't step in a boxing gym till I was 20 in the end..

None of the Birtley lads are travellers, and they had two on the Olympic squad, three in the worlds and one world junior.

None of the Birtley lads are travellers, and they had two on the Olympic squad, three in the worlds and one world junior.

I don't see that at all - in recent years it's been the likes of the Ingles and Gallaghers that have been most prominent in the media, both of them based in the North.

Listening to Glen Catley on you tube the other day he said he eventually quit after waiting months for his money and only picking up 1500 quid.
I was surprised to hear that as I always thought him and Saniger were close and I hadn't heard anyone speaking badly about him
