There was some talk apparently of a Hagler - Holmes fight if Holmes had got passed Spinks. Doubt it would have ever happened but I am glad it didn't.

If Jimmy Young had beaten Ossie Ocasio he probably would have gotten a shot at Larry Holmes. I wish he had because this would have forever settled the arguments for worst/most boring fight of all time.

I think that the only one who talked about that fight was Holmes' manager, ant it was somthing more like "If Holmes beat Spinks, what's more left... Marvin Hagler?"... Impossible fight to happen, I think

I read Wepner injured his back in that fall. Apparently Andre got confused a threw Wepner over the wrong side of the ring, the side without the extra floor padding!!

Didn't Leon Spinks 'fight' a wrestler on that card as well?
Yes I think wepner was wheeled out after this. Ill have to see about Spinks, not sure. The mental picture of Wepner literaly Flying out of the ring is a little unsettling. :D

Thanks for that info.

I'm glad about that.

When I watched the video of that, I thought the world must have gone crazy in 1959! :o

How could anybody expect a 39 yr old middleweight to challenge a 24 yr old HW champ; one that could punch pretty hard when he wanted to & was lightning quick with it?

It would have been sad to see.

Thank goodness it was a stunt.

I'm glad Hagler-Graham didn't happen in 1987. Graham would have outboxed Hagler convincingly... Prime for prime, Hagler wins, but by 1987 he was slow as fornicate, and in turn, his skills diminished as well as his reflexes.

EDIT: LMAO - the word f-u-c-k was turned into 'smeg'

I have to say, I've studied Hagler probably more than anyone else on here. I'm very confident of Graham beating him in '87.

Leon also had a match with Jerry Lawler.

I always thought ECW copied the late 70s to early 80s mid south wrestling.

They were booked by Eddie Gilbert for a time.

I suppose it could have happened but I'm glad Monzon and Hagler did not cross paths. Way too much would have been read into it.

E.G. Ali Holmes........Marciano Louis.........

Pro Wrestler, nicknamed The King. I think he is most well known for pile-driving comedian Andy Kaufman nearly breaking his neck. The seventies were wierd man.
