Id have to favor Bivol vs bert at this point... But if bert does win will canelo be lurking waiting?

i think bert is a better style match up for canelo than bivol, and by then better B will have aged another year...

fair play to Yarde who did a lot better than expected , but ultimately beterbiev was just to clever and experienced to lose this .

Yeah he was spot on.

When Bert (if he does) get beat I think it will be outpointed by Bivol or someone like that who can get in and get out and use good defence to block and parry and dodge enough of his powerful shots. I can't put my finger on anyone KOing him but obviously in boxing tough chins always eventually get cracked.

Yes that too. Neither are exactly fan favorites or huge cash cows so they're guys who you'd sell more on the quality of the matchup rather than on the star power of either of them as a fighter exactly.

Simply put. This is a fight for the Die Hard Boxing Fans. The Week in, Week out Boxing fans. This is not one for the Masses.

But that being said. Considering almost any fight you could put either of them in would fall into that category, this is probably the best selling fight you could put them in that would catch the interest of most all hardcore Boxing fans.

Yarde was well in it but didn't have the gas to do 12 hard rounds with Bert but who has?

He would be getting carried out of that ring if his corner hadn't stopped it. He was brave but he was outfought and overpowered by a far superior fighter who could have hurt him very badly if that fight had continued.

If you score a fight on who was busier - he was in front.

It depends how you score fights, for me personally Yarde was in front, he was busier but he was losing steam the further the fight went.

You score a fight on who's landing the most effective punches, effective aggression, effective defence and ring generalship. I don't think "busy" is one of the criteria used.

Maybe in boxing they should only score the rounds all three judges agree on.

Bert was hurt, look at him backing off after Yarde landed big, you never see him do that. He was mightily relieved to get through that one. Both showed great chins. What a fight, edge of the seat all the way. Anthony never looked like quite pulling it off, but what an effort.

He wasnt 'outclassed' as you originally stated. Beaten by the better fighter, far from outclassed.

You don’t need to have some superior level or perception / foresight to notice that Yarde was weakening significantly and looked like losing, but Beterbiev was clearly not having a comfortable, controlled experience in there all the way through.

To be fair as well it was a pretty horrible / awkward shot that started the finish, Yarde was handling the attacks pretty well up until that punch landed.

it was never derailed, he never went down or even had his legs go. any time yarde landed a good shot bert responded with more of his own. bert was said to be flagging here in a same round he teed off on yarde against the ropes for the last 30 seconds, then ktfo him the next round. how da f@ck that equates to flagging is beyond me

Yarde was ahead on all 3 cards and hurt Bert more than anyone else. Yarde wasn't "outclassed" he was beaten by that extra level of class and experience.

Well played if you (and Keith? and/or MDP?) and whoever saw Bert cruising to inevitable victory - that was obviously the correct reading of the fight - but you can surely see why others missed that ?

those cards are unreal. i had bert up 3-0... looked very comfortable.

There were some harder mid rounds to score, where yarde landed a good shot followed up, and then bert rallied back. i still feel like (not scoring them) bert came back to win most of them.

But as iv said befor, i might of got stuck scoring what was happening rather than what was landing. i guess in theroy you can be winning rounds while clearly losing the fight.

Over all i feel like i would of given yarde 1 or mabey 2 rounds....

the 5th bert got hit with a good right, shook his head, then pretty much immediately back yarde into a corner and mauled him. bert wasnt in trouble at all, just fans getting overexcited . bert's legs were steady all fight and he never looked close to touching down or being in serious trouble

callum johnson hurt bert more than yarde did

and i never said he was outclassed btw

no you scored right, for whatever reason people were giving yarde 2x credit for all his work

bert was never in serious trouble, yarde was game as hell and made him work hard, but bert was sharper and clearly breaking him down

now looking forward to Yarde, Smith and Buatsi fights that will never happen
